- Converting From MCI Mail to Internet
-
- MailRoom(tm) is the easiest way to move from MCI Mail to Internet
- Mail.
-
- Sierra Solutions recommends the following steps to switch to Internet
- Mail service:
-
- First, install MailRoom for Internet in the same directory you installed
- MailRoom for MCI Mail (usually C:\MAILROOM). The new files for Internet
- mail will be added without disturbing your MCI Mail support. Your previously
- entered Preferences for MailRoom will be automatically used by MailRoom for
- Internet.
-
- Run and configure MailRoom for Internet and test that you can send and
- receive messages to your Internet address. Once you have confirmed that
- everything is operational, you can set your MCI Mail account to forward
- messages to your Internet address. (See HELP AUTOFORWARD on MCI Mail
- for instructions on how to do this.)
-
- Once you have done this, you need not use MailRoom for MCI Mail any more.
- All of your Email will be delivered to your Internet account. You old
- MailRoom for MCI Mail address book will now be useable on the Internet
- and you will still have full access to you MCI Mail message base. You can,
- however, at any time, switch back to MCI Mail by stopping your forward
- and resuming use of MailRoom for MCI Mail. Your Internet messages will
- still be readable under MailRoom for MCI Mail version 2.3 and your address
- book will be fully usable. You may also use MailRoom for MCI Mail To send
- FAX, Telex and Paper Mail, since these are not well supported by Internet.
-
- We do not recommend that you run with both versions of MailRoom open at the
- same time because updates to the address book will not be synchronized. (You
- can run both at the same time if you restrict your address book updates to one
- copy.)
