  3. This document contains IMPORTANT INFORMATION you
  4. should know before using the program.

  13. WORKING WITH EXISTING CHARTS
  14.  
  15. *You may use charts created with a previous version 
  16.  of Org Plus simply by installing the new version of 
  17.  Org Plus and opening the older chart as usual.
  18.  
  19. *Charts created or modified in Org Plus for Windows 
  20.  Version 3.0 can be opened in Versions 2.01 and 2.0,
  21.  Org Plus Advanced 6.01, and Microsoft Organization
  22.  Chart 1.0. These previous versions do not support all
  23.  of the features of Org Plus for Windows 3.0, but they
  24.  will convert the newer features to reasonable
  25.  equivalents.

  27. *Org Plus for Windows 3.0 charts cannot be opened in 
  28.  Org Plus for Windows 1.0, Org Plus Advanced 6.0 or
  29.  earlier, or Org Plus for Macintosh 1.0.

  31. *Org Plus for Windows 3.0 will read Org Plus Advanced
  32.  6.01 Amounts fields and translate them into Org Plus
  33.  3.0 Amounts fields. There are some restrictions;
  34.  please refer to the Org Plus for Windows 3.0 manual
  35.  for details.

  38. COLOR MONITORS
  39.  
  40. Org Plus for Windows 3.0 gives you the option of
  41. selecting from over 70 colors. If you are using a 16-
  42. color display, some of those colors cannot be
  43. displayed on your monitor. Org Plus will simulate
  44. those colors with patterns of displayable colors when
  45. it draws the interiors of boxes or the chart
  46. background, and will pick the nearest displayable
  47. color for drawing lines and text. Displays which
  48. support 256 or more colors will always correctly show
  49. the selected color.

  51. Regardless of the capabilities of your display, the
  52. selected color will be displayed correctly if
  53. displayed on another system with 256 or more colors,
  54. and will be printed correctly if your printer is
  55. capable of printing that color.

  58. CHART COLORS IN OTHER APPLICATIONS
  59.  
  60. Org Plus for Windows 3.0 chart colors may appear
  61. different when the chart is embedded or linked through
  62. OLE into a client application that only supports a 16-
  63. color palette. Most current presentation graphics
  64. programs can display the full set of Org Plus colors,
  65. but many word processors cannot.

  68. SHADOW OFFSETS
  69.  
  70. Org Plus gives you the ability to set the amount of
  71. shadow offset you want to give your lines, text, or
  72. boxes. It is recommended that you set your offset to 4
  73. points or less for the best chart appearance and
  74. program performance.

  77. PRINTING WITH HEWLETT PACKARD LASERJET 4 PRINTERS

  79. If you are printing your charts with an HP LaserJet 4
  80. printer, we recommend that you use a PostScript
  81. printer driver. If you do need to use a non-PostScript
  82. HP LaserJet 4 printer driver, we recommend that you
  83. use the Raster Graphics Mode instead of HP-GL/2
  84. Graphics Mode. You can change the printer driver mode
  85. without exiting Org Plus.  From the File menu, select
  86. Print Setup; Org Plus displays the Print Setup dialog
  87. box.  Click the Options button to bring up the Options
  88. dialog box and select Raster from the Graphics Mode
  89. pull-down menu.

  92. PRINTING WITH HEWLETT PACKARD LASERJET III PRINTERS
  93.  
  94. Certain PCL drivers for the HP LaserJet III series
  95. have a problem printing white boxes. We recommend that
  96. you either use a PostScript driver or make your boxes
  97. transparent instead of white. You can set your boxes to
  98. transparent by selecting them and then choosing Color
  99. from the Boxes menu. The lower right cell on the color
  100. grid makes the selected boxes transparent.

  103. ORG PLUS AND MICROSOFT ORGANIZATION CHART
  104.  
  105. Org Plus for Windows 3.0 installs itself as the OLE
  106. server for PowerPoint 4.0 organization charts. If you
  107. have PowerPoint 4.0 installed, you will find that the
  108. organization chart button on its toolbar and the org
  109. chart "new slide" template will now run Org Plus
  110. instead of Microsoft Organization Chart. Also, when
  111. you edit existing org charts in PowerPoint slides, you
  112. will be using Org Plus, not Microsoft Organization
  113. Chart. Org Plus 3.0 is completely compatible with
  114. Microsoft Organization Chart 1.0.

  117. NETWORK FILE SHARING
  118.  
  119. Org Plus for Windows 3.0 will allow simultaneous
  120. access to a chart file. The first to open it has full
  121. write access; while it is open, others can open it
  122. read-only. In order for network sharing to work, SHARE 
  123. must be installed on the systems involved. See your 
  124. Windows documentation for details.

  127. INSTALLING WHEN WINDOWS IS RUN FROM A NETWORK
  128.  
  129. If you are running Windows from a network and the
  130. Windows System directory is on the net and is write-
  131. protected, the Install will be unable to install the
  132. file CTRL3DV2.DLL there. Before you are able to run
  133. Org Plus, you will need to get your system
  134. administrator to manually install this file.
