- System Requirements
- -------------------
- You will need 560K free RAM to play GateWorld, so make sure you have
- enough RAM before running GateWorld (use DOS's MEM command to see the
- size of the largest executable, it needs to be at least 560000 bytes).
- If you do not have enough RAM you can remove unnecessary TSR's from
- your AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS, or add an EMS or UMB manager to load
- required TSR's high (see your DOS manual on how to do this). You will
- also need a VGA system.
-
- Joystick and keyboard are both supported, but not the mouse. Some
- joysticks do not work with GateWorld (yes, we are working on fixing
- this), so if GateWorld either locks up your system at the title screen,
- or IMMEDIATELY goes past the title and menu screens into the game try
- using the /NOJOY command line option. For a list of command line
- options and how to use them type:
-
- GTWRLD1 /HELP or
- GW1HELP
-
-
- GateWorld Notes
- ---------------
- Certain VGA cards do not support one of the techniques that GateWorld
- uses called Color Cycling. Because not everyone will read this text
- file, Color Cycling defaults to off. You can turn it on by toggling
- "Color Cycling" support from the CONFIGURE menu. If a black horizontal
- line or "snow" appears when playing the game then turn Color Cycling
- back off. If you set the option once it will be stored permanently in
- the configuration file.
-
- To get GateWorld to run acceptably on slow computers you can adjust the
- size of the Viewport. This is done by selecting "Size view" from the
- MAIN GAME menu. When you change the view port size it will be stored
- permanently in the configuration file.
-
- Pressing F1 from anywhere in the game will provide you with detailed
- help.
-
- If you are having ANY problems with the game please give HomeBrew
- Software a call at (707) 451-9653. We believe in supporting our users.
-
-
- Order Information
- -------------------
- An order form is included in the text file ORDER.FRM. There is also
- order information in the game accessible from the MAIN MENU. When
- placing orders please specify if you require 5¼" or 3½" disk size.
- (All foreign orders must be made in U.S.A. funds, and add $2 extra
- shipping.)

- About HomeBrew Software
- -----------------------
- HomeBrew Software was started by two programmers who used to work at
- Epyx. Some commercial titles we have worked on are: "California
- Games", "The Games: Summer Edition", and "Defender Of The Crown" for
- the IBM PC; "Rescue On Fractalus" and "Koronis Rift" for the Tandy
- Color Computer; "World Games" for the Apple ][.
-
- HomeBrew Software is always looking for new and talented game authors.
- If you have a popular game in shareware or commercially, please send a
- copy for review. We offer advertising, order handling, a game
- authoring system, and far better royalties than commercial publishers
- offer. Join the HomeBrew Software team today!
-
- We hope you enjoy this game. Please feel free to pass your comments
- and suggestions to us at the address contained within the ordering
- information screen. Please do not forget that this game is distributed
- through shareware and as such we, our dealers and distributors rely on
- your honesty and financial support in order that we can continue to
- provide quality products and exceptional values.
