  10.     Just a little bonus I tossed in to make the initial heralds 
  11. package more attractive.  This font contains a small collection of 
  12. speeders (little gas powered vehicles used to haul work crews and 
  13. inspection crews to remote sections of the railroad), hand cars (what 
  14. the railroads used before speeders) and other work equipment.  
  15. These are some more toys to augment my other rail fonts.  I am sure 
  16. that there are a few speeder owners out there who will love this 
  17. font.

  51. NOW FOR THE "ASKING FOR MONEY" BIT, AKA, THIS IS SHAREWARE:
  52. <P>    You are free to use (play with, throw at the cat, etc.) this font 
  53. for one week after receiving it.  If you like it and decide to keep it, 
  54. you should send a US $10 "shareware" fee to myself at the address 
  55. below (for international users, see item 4 in "The Fine Print").  Please 
  56. include a brief note describing where you got this font, what you like 
  57. about it, and what you would like to see in the future.
  58. <P>    If you just have to have the full collection of my train fonts 
  59. (see "Product Ad"), send a couple of FORMATTED 3.5" HD disks (Two 
  60. HD for Mac, or One HD for IBM recommended) and a SELF ADDRESSED 
  61. STAMPED ENVELOPE to the address below. (I hate to format disks 
  62. and you will be sure to get the right machine, Mac or IBM, this way)
  63. <P>    I do not want to send any of my customers into bankruptcy, if 
  64. you are honestly poor, (i.e., you ain't gonna support the American 
  65. way and my education) please send a post card (the weirder the 
  66. better) describing where you got this font, what you like about it and 
  67. what you would like to see added to it.
  68. <P>THE FINE PRINT:

  70. <LI>Each font or icon package is an individual product.  Thus, if you 
  71. keep Passenger Font and Freight Font, you should pay $20, not $10.
  72. <LI>You may NOT use this font in any publication or any product unless 
  73. you register your copy by sending $10 FOR EACH FONT YOU USE.  Be 
  74. sure to specify which fonts you are registering for.  It is not fair for 
  75. you to make money off of my hard work without paying the 
  76. Shareware fees.
  77. <LI>If you decide to keep several of my shareware products and you are 
  78. only using them for personal applications (or you are using them for 
  79. a struggling NONPROFIT organization promoting railroads), then $10 
  80. a piece can get to be a bit expensive.  Please pay what you think they 
  81. are worth.  I recommend $10 for the first font and $5 for each 
  82. additional font.
  83. <LI>If you do not reside in the US, then getting a check in US$ may be 
  84. difficult for you.  So, I will also accept any interesting widgets, toys, 
  85. books, time tables, postcards or what not.  What's common place to 
  86. you is quite possibly exotic for me.  By the way, I'm a rail fan (hint 
  87. hint hint)
  88. <LI>You may distribute this font for free, however, you may not sell this 
  89. font or include it in any package for sale without the written 
  90. permission of myself, Benn Coifman.  I am very agreeable to CD 
  91. ROM's and shareware packages for sale, however, I do want to retain 
  92. some degree of control over my work.  So, please contact me first.

  98. WHY SHOULD YOU SEND IN THE SHAREWARE FEE?
  99. <P>    Well, I am releasing this font in it's entirety.  I put a lot of hard 
  100. work into this font.  I have also gotten a lot of pleasure from it.  
  101. Ignoring all of the capitalistic angles, your shareware dollar will 
  102. speed up the development of new train fonts and help me afford 
  103. new font tools.  My goal is to at least break even.
  104. <P>    Only 39 people have registered my shareware products since I 
  105. first released them ten months ago.  There are a lot of expenses that 
  106. go into these fonts.  My font editor cost almost $300.  Then there are 
  107. the little expenses like ink cartridges (you wouldn't believe how 
  108. many ink cartridges I go through) and paying for a mail box.  Oy!  
  109. And you want to talk about memory... 40 Meg of hard disk devoted 
  110. to fonts and icon development.
  111. <P>    I would love to purchase the latest version of Illustrator and 
  112. produce more clip art.  I could also use more disk space to keep these 
  113. toys in.

  116. BENEFITS OF PAYING THE SHAREWARE FEE:
  117. <P>    Enough of what shareware fees do for me, what will they do for 
  118. you!?  I will spend less time on school and more time on producing 
  119. shareware.  You will also be entitled to a peek into things to come.  If 
  120. you send a disk (or two) along with your payment, I will give the 
  121. Demo font that includes all of the odd characters that haven't quite 
  122. found a home yet (including a number of steam engines!).  In 
  123. addition, I will rush you out the most recent versions of my fonts 
  124. and icons.  I might even toss in a couple of pre-release fonts.
