  3. Notes on LORVAD (formerly Printers Devil) fonts:

  5. Medusa is based on the familiar Art Nouveau font Broklin. It's a display font
  6. that looks great at 12 points or larger. About 170 characters and 100 kerning
  7. pairs are defined.
  8.  
  9. LoopDeLoop is a fun display font. Its uppercase characters are based on the
  10. font Bee Line. They have a stroked effect simulating a continuous line, looped
  11. to create each character. The lowercase characters are a solid variation on the
  12. shape of the uppercase. This set contains only about sixty characters. There
  13. is minimal kerning. Looks nice as an opening decorative capital. Shareware $10.

  15. Albatross is a text body font with a moderately short x-height. The relative
  16. point size is a bit small (i.e. 14 point is closer to what most people would
  17. consider 12 point). It contains all the regular characters and many special
  18. characters. Shareware $10.
  19.  
  20. Judas is a display font patterned on Adobe wood type Ironwood. It contains only
  21. caps, numbers, and a few special characters. It seems to look best at 16 points
  22. or larger. Very interesting negative space. It is shareware-$10 (or thirty
  23. silver dollars if you want us to feel guilty).

  25. LORVAD fonts include: Bodidly Bold, Oswald Black, Oswald Grey, BlackForest,
  26. InkaBod, CartWright, Judas, Albatross, LoopDeLoop, and Medusa.

  28. These fonts are NOT demos. Unless noted they contain all the regular
  29. alphanumeric characters. Most contain an assortment of special characters.
  30. Fonts contain hinting; usually over one hundred kerning pairs are defined. AFM
  31. files are included. Bodidly Bold, Oswald Black, Blackforest, Inkabod,
  32. CartWright, Judas, Albatross, LoopDeLoop and Dedalus are type 1 PostScript
  33. fonts and may also be used with ATM on non-PostScript printers. Oswald Grey, a
  34. type 3 font, may only be used on PostScript printers. It has an 80% grey fill
  35. with a black border.

  37. Bodidly Bold and Oswald Black look great in small or large sizes. I'd recommend
  38. using Oswald Grey at 24 points or larger.

  40. BlackForest and Inkabod are designed without any curves. With one or two
  41. exceptions all angles are multiples of 45 degrees. BlackForest has an old
  42. world German feel. It seems to look best about 24 points. InkaBod is based on
  43. the bitmapped font Nordic. On the LaserWriter it looks great at 14 points and
  44. above. On the ImageWriter, try it at 18 points and larger.

  46. CartWright is inspired by the Adobe wood type Ponderosa font. It contains only
  47. the basic 90+ characters.

  49. The bitmap screenfonts are just your basic Fontographer-generated characters
  50. with minimal touchup. With ATM on the market I'd rather spend my time polishing
  51. up the PostScript file than slaving over an archaic bitmap screenfont.

  53. LORVAD fonts are distributed in the spirit of shareware. Try them out for a
  54. month. If you decide to keep any of these fonts you are required to send a $10
  55. per font registration fee to:

  60. Maryland residents should include 5% sales tax.

  62. These products may be distributed freely as long as the following conditions
  63. are met: The files may not be modified and this notice must be included with
  64. each font or group of LORVAD fonts; Fonts may be included on collections of
  65. Public Domain and Shareware disks providing that no more than $10 is charged
  66. for the disk. Distribution by electronic BBS is allowed.

  68. If you paid for a disk with any of these fonts you are still required to send
  69. in your registration fee if you decide to keep them.

  71. The Bottom Line: We will continue to release laser fonts in a non-crippled
  72. format as long as there is a fair response to the registration fee.
