  1. WELCOME TO THE PAGESTREAM 3.0h2 FREE UPDATE!
  2. --------------------------------------------

  4. There are two files in this update. You must download and decompress
  5. both PGS3H21.LHA and PGS3H22.LHA before you can use this update.
  6.  
  7. This update requires disk 1 of your original PageStream3 disk set.
  8. It will not be modified by the update.
  9.  
  10. You must have sufficient free hard drive space to use this patch. 3MB
  11. of free space is recommended.
  12.  
  13. This update requires that PageStream 3.0h be installed on your hard
  14. drive. If you have an older version, you must upgrade to 3.0h before
  15. you can upgrade to 3.0h2.
  16.  
  17. The files to upgrade from 3.0g to 3.0h are PGS3H1.LHA and PGS3H2.LHA.
  18.  
  19. The files to upgrade from 3.0f to 3.0g are PGS3G1.LHA and PGS3G2.LHA.
  20.  
  21. The files to upgrade to 3.0f from previous versions are:

  23. - 3.0 ->3.0f: PGS3F.LHA & PGS30F.LHA
  24.  
  25. - 3.0a->3.0f: PGS3F.LHA & PGS3AF.LHA
  26.  
  27. - 3.0b->3.0f: PGS3F.LHA & PGS3BF.LHA
  28.  
  29. - 3.0c->3.0f: PGS3F.LHA & PGS3CF.LHA
  30.  
  31. - 3.0d->3.0f: PGS3F.LHA & PGS3DF.LHA
  32.  
  33. - 3.0e->3.0f: PGS3EF.LHA
  34.  
  35. If you're not sure what version of PageStream3 you have installed,
  36. run it and check the version number in the Navigator requester.

  39. USING THIS PATCH
  40. ----------------

  42. Once you have 3.0h correctly installed, decompress PGS3H21.LHA and
  43. PGS3H22.LHA to the same directory. Decompress them both to RAM: if
  44. you have sufficient memory.
  45.  
  46. IF YOU HAVE 5MB OR MORE OF RAM, you can decompress the archives to
  47. RAM and not worry about memory limitations.
  48.  
  49. IF YOU HAVE 4MB OF RAM, you can decompress the archives to RAM, but
  50. you must delete the archives from RAM before running the patch.
  51. (Copy them somewhere safe in case you need them again!)
  52.  
  53. IF YOU HAVE 3MB OF RAM, you cannot decompress the archives to RAM.
  54. Decompress them to your hard drive.
  55.  
  56. A drawer called "3.0h2Update" will be created when you decompress
  57. the patches. Both archives contain this Read.1st! file, so your
  58. decompression program will ask if you it is ok to overwrite the
  59. first Read.1st! file; this is normal. Double click on the
  60. Install-PageStream3.0h2 icon in this drawer to begin.

  62. YOU SHOULD KEEP A COPY OF THE PATCH FILES UNTIL AFTER YOU HAVE
  63. SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED THIS UPDATE IN CASE YOU NEED TO RUN IT AGAIN
  64. OR MANUALLY. If you delete them after decompressing them, and
  65. something goes wrong during patching, you will have to download them
  66. again! If you have adequate hard drive space, simply select the
  67. PageStream3 directory and choose Copy from the Workbench's Icon menu
  68. to make a complete duplicate of your PageStream3 directory. If you
  69. have a problem with the patch, you will have a backup to restore.

  71. TECHNICAL NOTES: this update will patch the PageStream3, BME and
  72. PageLiner program files in your PageStream3: directory. Every other
  73. file changed from 3.0h is included. If you own the TrueType and/or
  74. Wordworth document filters, they will be patched to the new versions
  75. by this patch.

  77. LOW MEMORY NOTES: If you do not have enough memory to install this
  78. patch (the SAS patch utility will fail if there is not enough free
  79. memory), you can conserve memory by decompressing the patch archives
  80. to your hard drive instead of to RAM:. If the patch fails due to low
  81. memory, you will not be able to use PageStream3 until you have
  82. successfully installed the patch because you will then have a
  83. mixture of 3.0h and earlier files. If you need to run the patch
  84. manually, decompress the PGSpatch.LHA (or BMEpatch.LHA or
  85. PLpatch.LHA files as applicable) archive found in the PGS3H21.LHA
  86. file. Use the spatch utility from this archive. The command syntax
  87. is:

  89. spatch -oPageStream3:PageStream3.0h2 -pPageStream.pch PageStream3:PageStream3

  91. spatch -oPageStream3:BME2.0d -pBME.pch PageStream3:BME
  92.  
  93. spatch -oPageStream3:PageLiner2.0f -pPageLiner.pch PageStream3:PageLiner

  95. The first parameter is the new version, the second parameter is the
  96. patch file name (include the path if required), and the third
  97. parameter is the currently installed version of PageStream3. Delete
  98. the old version (PageStream3, BME or PageLiner) when you're done and
  99. then rename the new version to the old version (ie, PageStream 3.0h2
  100. to PageStream3).

  102. UPDATE OPTIONS: you can get the latest version of the PageStream3.0
  103. seven disk set at any time for $10 from Soft-Logik sales.

  105. If you have previously compressed the PageStream3, BME or PageLiner
  106. program files with something such as PowerPacker, you will probably
  107. not be able to use this patch, even if you decompress them.
