  1. WELCOME TO THE PAGESTREAM 3.0g FREE UPDATE!

  4. There are two files in this update. You must download and decompress
  5. both PGS3G1.LHA and PGS3G2.LHA before you can use this update.
  6.  
  7. This update requires disk 1 of your original PageStream3 disk set.
  8. It will not be modified by the update.
  9.  
  10. You must have sufficient free hard drive space to use this patch. 3MB
  11. of free space is recommended.
  12.  
  13. This update requires that PageStream 3.0f be installed on your hard
  14. drive. If you have an older version, you must upgrade to 3.0f before
  15. you can upgrade to 3.0g. The files required to upgrade to 3.0f are:

  17. - 3.0 ->3.0f: PGS3F.LHA & PGS30F.LHA
  18.  
  19. - 3.0a->3.0f: PGS3F.LHA & PGS3AF.LHA
  20.  
  21. - 3.0b->3.0f: PGS3F.LHA & PGS3BF.LHA
  22.  
  23. - 3.0c->3.0f: PGS3F.LHA & PGS3CF.LHA
  24.  
  25. - 3.0d->3.0f: PGS3F.LHA & PGS3DF.LHA
  26.  
  27. - 3.0e->3.0f: PGS3EF.LHA
  28.  
  29. If you're not sure what version of PageStream3 you have installed,
  30. run it and check the version number in the Navigator requester.

  33. USING THIS PATCH
  34. ----------------

  36. Once you have 3.0f correctly installed, decompress PGS3G1.LHA and
  37. PGS3G2.LHA to the same directory. Decompress them both to RAM: if
  38. you have sufficient memory.
  39.  
  40. IF YOU HAVE 5MB OR MORE OF RAM, you can decompress the archives to
  41. RAM and not worry about memory limitations.
  42.  
  43. IF YOU HAVE 4MB OF RAM, you can decompress the archives to RAM, but
  44. you must delete the archives from RAM before running the patch.
  45. (Copy them somewhere safe in case you need them again!)
  46.  
  47. IF YOU HAVE 3MB OF RAM, you cannot decompress the archives to RAM.
  48. Decompress them to your hard drive.
  49.  
  50. A drawer called "3.0gUpdate" will be created when you decompress the
  51. patches. Both archives contain this Read.1st! file, so your
  52. decompression program will ask if you it is ok to overwrite the
  53. first Read.1st! file; this is normal. Double click on the
  54. Install-PageStream3.0g icon in this drawer to begin.

  56. YOU SHOULD KEEP A COPY OF THE PATCH FILES UNTIL AFTER YOU HAVE
  57. SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED THIS UPDATE IN CASE YOU NEED TO RUN IT AGAIN
  58. OR MANUALLY. IF YOU DELETE THEM AFTER DECOMPRESSING THEM, AND
  59. SOMETHING GOES WRONG DURING PATCHING, YOU WILL HAVE TO DOWNLOAD THEM
  60. AGAIN!

  62. TECHNICAL NOTES: this update will patch the PageStream3, BME and
  63. PageLiner program files in your PageStream3: directory. Every other
  64. file changed from 3.0f is included. Note that you cannot use 3.0g
  65. font engines or printer drivers with earlier versions of PageStream3.

  67. LOW MEMORY NOTES: If you do not have enough memory to install this
  68. patch (the SAS patch utility will fail if there is not enough free
  69. memory), you can conserve memory by decompressing the patch archives
  70. to your hard drive instead of to RAM:. If the patch fails due to low
  71. memory, you will not be able to use PageStream3 until you have
  72. successfully installed the patch because you will then have a
  73. mixture of 3.0g and earlier files. If you need to run the patch
  74. manually, decompress the PGSpatch.LHA (or BMEpatch.LHA or
  75. PLpatch.LHA files as applicable) archive found in the PGS3G1.LHA
  76. file. Use the spatch utility from this archive. The command syntax
  77. is:

  79. spatch -oPageStream3:PageStream3.0g -pPageStream3.pch PageStream3:PageStream3

  81. spatch -oPageStream3:BME2.0b -pBME2.pch PageStream3:BME
  82.  
  83. spatch -oPageStream3:PageLiner2.0d -pPageLiner2cd.pch PageStream3:PageLiner
  84.  
  85. (There are two versions of the PageLiner patch, depending on which
  86. version you have installed.)

  88. The first parameter is the new version, the second parameter is the
  89. patch file name (include the path if required), and the third
  90. parameter is the currently installed version of PageStream3. Delete
  91. the old version (PageStream3, BME or PageLiner) when you're done and
  92. rename the new version to the old version (ie, PageStream 3.0g to
  93. PageStream3).

  95. UPDATE OPTIONS: you can get the latest version of the PageStream3
  96. disk set at any time for $10 from Soft-Logik sales. Please contact
  97. Soft-Logik sales at the phone numbers and addresses listed in the
  98. ReadMe.Now file in the 3.0gUpdate directory.
