  8.     Well, if you are going to have a train font, you really should 
  9. have a train font that you can say something with.  Playing Dr. 
  10. Frankenstein, I created a monster by blending Railroad Roman with 
  11. Rail Freight.  I have included two special characters in this font, a 
  12. turn of the century caboose and the NP 328 (the steam engine).  In 
  13. my mind, it wouldn't be right to have a string of letters being pulled 
  14. by a diesel... but I am pa diesel fanatics, I did 
  15. include one diesel or you can use any of the locomotives found in my 
  16. other railroad fonts.
  17. <P>
  18.     I started making fonts that were trains.  They came out looking 
  19. really great, so, now I am dabbling in fonts that are trains caring 
  20. letters.  The key layout is fairly straight forward, you should print 
  21. out the Alphabet Train Legend.  In case you are not one to listen to 
  22. helpful advise, all of the lowercase letters depict uppercase letters on 
  23. flat cars.  Cleve for a steam engine traveling 
  24. from right to left and "KL" for a steam engine going left to right ("Z" 
  25. and "M", respectively, for a diesel).  The cabooses can be found in "D", 
  26. "J", "X", and "n".  My suggestion is to use the caboose that is closest on 
  27. the keyboard to the locomotive you select.  But, I'm a purist.  In the 
  28. event that the space bar doesn't give you an empty flatcar, "_" 
  29. should.  Finally, the q-car looks like an o-car in smaller sizes, so I 
  30. provided an alternate q-ccharacter.

  32.     Have fun with this font, use it for page numbers and titles.  Or 
  33. use the other railroad fonts and create a real mixed train.  The 
  34. possibilities are endless.

  69. (see "Product Ad"), send a couple ks (Two 
  70. HD for Mac, or One HD for IBM recommended) and a SELF ADDRESSED 
  71. STAMPED ENVELOPE to the address below. (I hate to format disks 
  72. and you will be sure to get the right machine, Mac or IBM, this way)
  73. <P>    I do not want to send any of my customers into bankruptcy, if 
  74. you are honestly poor, (i.e., you ain't gonna support the American 
  75. way and my education) please send a post card (the weirder the 
  76. better) describing where you got this font, what you like about it and 
  77. what you wo it.
  78. <P>THE FINE PRINT:

  80. <LI>Each font or icon package is an individual product.  Thus, if you 
  81. keep Passenger Font and Freight Font, you should pay $20, not $10.
  82. <LI>You may NOT use this font in any publication or any product unless 
  83. you register your copy by sending $10 FOR EACH FONT YOU USE.  Be 
  84. sure to specify which fonts you are registering for.  It is not fair for 
  85. you to make money off of my hard work without paying the 
  86. Shareware fees.
  87. <LI>If you decide to keep several  and you are 
  88. only using them for personal applications (or you are using them for 
  89. a struggling NONPROFIT organization promoting railroads), then $10 
  90. a piece can get to be a bit expensive.  Please pay what you think they 
  91. are worth.  I recommend $10 for the first font and $5 for each 
  92. additional font.
  93. <LI>If you do not reside in the US, then getting a check in US$ may be 
  94. difficult for you.  So, I will also accept any interesting widgets, toys, 
  95. books, time tables, postcards or whaace to 
  96. you is quite possibly exotic for me.  By the way, I'm a rail fan (hint

  99. font or include it in any package for sale without the written 
  100. permission of myself, Benn Coifman.  I am very agreeable to CD 
  101. ROM's and shareware packages for sale, however, I do want to retain 
  102. some degree of control over my work.  So, please contact me first.

  107. WHY SHOULD YOU SEND IN THE SHAREWARE FEE?
  108. <P>    Well, I am releasing this font in it's entirety.  I put a lot of hard 
  109. work into this font.  I have also gotten a lot of pleasure from it.  
  110. Ignoring all of the capitalistic angles, your shareware dollar will 
  111. speed up the development of new train fonts and help me afford 
  112. new font tools.  My goal is to at leas9 people have registered my shareware products since I 
  113. first released them ten months ago.  There are a lot of expenses that 
  114. go into these fonts.  My font editor cost almost $300.  Then there are 
  115. the little expenses like ink cartridges (you wouldn't believe how 
  116. many ink cartridges I go through) and paying for a mail box.  Oy!  
  117. And you want to talk about memory... 40 Meg of hard disk devoted 
  118. to fonts and icon development.
  119. <P>    I would love to purchase the latest version of Illustclip art.  I could also use more disk space to keep these 
  120. toys in.

  123. BENEFITS OF PAYING THE SHAREWARE FEE:
  124. <P>    Enough of what shareware fees do for me, what will they do for 
  125. you!?  I will spend less time on school and more time on producing 
  126. shareware.  You will also be entitled to a peek into things to come.  If 
  127. you send a disk (or two) along with your payment, I will give the 
  128. Demo font that includes all of the odd characters that haven't quite 
  129. found a home yet (including a ).  In 
  130. addition, I will rush you out the most recent versions of my fonts 
  131. and icons.  I might even toss in a couple of pre-release fonts.
