  5. As from version 6.44 and brainfile 1.6 all Virus_Checker releases will have
  6. PGP sigs attached to them.  This enables an extra check to ensure that the
  7. file is intact.
  8.  
  9. Below you will find my signed public key.  Save it to a disk file and enter
  10. `PGP <file name>' to decode it.  This will produce a file called
  11. `public_key'.  To add my key to your PGP keyring now enter `PGP -ka
  12. public_key' and follow the instructions on the screen.  To verify my
  13. signature, now enter `PGP <file name>' again.  It's probably pretty
  14. paranoid to rely upon PGP signatures and keys, but then again you might
  15. want to have a somewhat unambiguous proof that the distribution archives
  16. you have downloaded are intact.  Security can still be compromised, it you
  17. don't trust the key below you can still contact me to ask for an official
  18. key.

  20. To check that the signature matches the file simply do
  21. PGP <filename>.sig <filename>
  22. PGP will warn you if the signature does not match the file.

  102. Added HDSpeedup trojan. This trojan claims to speed up HD access by
  103. changing the trackdisk.device (Yer sure). It actually puts 2 files in s:
  104. and alters the S:startup-sequence by adding 2 lines. They are
  105. sys:s/hd_speedup.prefs #?/#?
  106. sys:s/wait 10000
  107. The first one is actually a CBM delete command and delets all your files 1
  108. directory down ie C: devs: libs: l: etc.
  109. I cannot check the delete command as it will show up on all machines. Make
  110. sure VC is running and you will be warned if anything alters your
  111. startup-sequence.
