  4.   The Past:

  7.   Maybe you have noticed that Aplayer doesn't appear on aminet anymore ..
  8.  
  9.   Well, is case you don't know, or you already know, why, here's an
  10.   explanation:
  11.  
  12.   Peter Kunath, who is the maker of the player Delitracker, has accused  us
  13.   of having stolen various pieces of code from his replayer routines. This,
  14.   among others, concerned the FTM, Hippel-(COSO) and other players.
  15.  
  16.   We are sorry to admit that he is right and he has got an apology from us.
  17.   But  hereby  we  now gives him, and Frank Riffel, an official apology. We
  18.   are very sorry.
  19.  
  20.   To solve the problem being banned from Aminet, we have now removed the
  21.   players containing Delitrackers code. This will hopefully not cause to
  22.   much inconvinience to the users of APlayer ..
  23.  
  24.   APlayer will still be able to use the old player libraries from previous
  25.   releases of APlayer, but for moral reasons we have to urge you to delete
  26.   them!
  27.  
  28.   Once again, our apologies to Peter and Frank, and then on to something
  29.   hopefully brighter - the future of APlayer ..

  32.   The Future:
  33.   -----------

  35.   The next version of APlayer is probably not to appear before this years
  36.   Christmas-time, because of some major plans:
  37.  
  38.   · The whole APlayer code will be rewritten/converted to C. This will
  39.     hopefully make a portation to other computer platforms/CPU's easier.
  40.     In the future we will hopefully get Power Amigas, or maybe the Bebox
  41.     will gain market (it looks like a possible cool platform :)
  42.  
  43.   · Because a conversion/rewriting is a @{i}very@{ui} hard and lengthy
  44.     process, the next APlayer will as mentioned probably not appear
  45.     before Christmas 96.
  46.  
  47.   · While reprogramming the whole stuff, a new and improved graphical
  48.     interface will be implemented (Not MUI), including font sensitivity,
  49.     4/8 colour interface (probably MagicWB-style) and even more along the
  50.     road.

  52.   We hope that you, the user of APlayer, can understand and accept our
  53.   decisions on the way APlayer is going to develop in the future.
  54.  
  55.   Because the rewriting demands pretty much from the one and only
  56.   programmer, Thomas Neumann, he can not also use any time for developing
  57.   new players, noteplayers or fix bugs.
  58.  
  59.   Therefore we ask you to step forward and be a volunteer! Can you
  60.   program Amiga assembler, do you have some (or much) knowlegde of the
  61.   amiga audio system ? and do you want to become part of the APlayer
  62.   project ?
  63.  
  64.   Then here is your chance .. Write a letter (E-mail) to one of the
  65.   addresses you find in the guide. We will ofcourse supply you
  66.   with any information/source you need to be a developer.

  68.   We are looking forward to some hopefully serious contacts :)
