- ALawTo8SVX ALawTo8SVX
-
- NAME
- ALawTo8SVX - A-Law audio file converter
-
- SYNOPSIS
- ALawTo8XVX converts A-Law encoded raw ISDN sample files to Amiga
- IFF 8SVX files.
-
- INPUTS
- FROM/A - Name of source file (in A-Law format)
- TO/A - Name of output IFF file
-
- FUNCTION
- The FROM file must be an A-Law encoded raw file according to the
- ITU G.711 specification, with 8000 Hz sampling frequency and a
- resolution of 12 bits per sample.
-
- The A-Law data will be linearized and converted to the IFF 8SVX
- format, which can be read by most Amiga music programs, including
- MultiView.
-
- Since the 8SVX format uses only 8 bits per sample, a big amount of
- precision is lost during the conversion, and the resulting IFF file
- is of inferior quality. This is especially noticeable if the input
- file does not use the full dynamic range.
-
