- Extra Special Last Minute Additions:
-
- AutoMix 2.0, (really 1.999), included on this disk, is a preliminary update
- to the AutoMix program. It has not been fully tested, but I figure some of
- you might be interested in the additional features, so here it is.
- Remember, it is really only a Beta version, and may (or may not) have
- some problems.
-
- AutoMix 2.0 is the same as the original AutoMix but with 2 additional
- features:
- 1- Support for the "Niche" Audio Control Module
- 2- Color Coded Fader grouping
-
- 1- "Niche" Support
-
- The "Niche" Audio Control Module is a small rack mount MIDI controllable
- 8 input analog "audio level control device" sold by the "Russ Jones
- Marketing Group" in Northbridge, CA. Since it may soon sweep the ocean
- (just like the Mud Shark did), AutoMix 2.0 sports some special goodies
- that make working with it a little easier. To the left of each of the
- two banks of faders, there is a button labeled "Niche Mode". When this
- button is selected, an additional field labeled "Channel" appears, and
- the controller designator just above the "Niche Mode" button is relabeled
- "Leftmost". When in "Niche Mode", the AutoMix faders send 16 consecutive
- controllers, beginning with the one you type into the "Controller" field,
- on a single MIDI channel, the one you type in the "Channel" field.
- The controller field is labeled "Leftmost" because the controller you
- type in that field will correspond to the leftmost fader in the bank.
- Owners of the Niche will find this quite obvious, and others will have
- no possible use for this feature.
-
- 2- Color Coded Fader Grouping
-
- You will notice some little colored buttons on the left side of the
- screen marked "Group", five of them to be exact. From left to right
- they represent four possible fader groupings (red, green, blue and
- orange), and one for removing faders from a group (black). When you
- click on one of these colored boxes, it begins to flash. While it is
- flashing, any fader you click on will be added to the group which
- corresponds to that colored box (the fader knob will change to the
- appropriate color). Clicking on the box again, or just about anywhere
- other than on a fader, will make the box stop flashing and end the
- function. The rightmost box, which is black, works in a similar
- fashion, except it is used to remove faders from groups. Faders which
- are clicked on while the black box is flashing will turn black and
- regain their independence. Manipulating any fader which is part of
- a group will cause all faders in that group to move. Notice that even
- if some faders are forced beyond their range of travel, relationships
- between faders in a group is maintained when back in range. The
- "Update" function works for groups of faders just as it does for single
- faders, eliminating any KCS track data which conflicts with any of the
- faders in the group (see addendum "Special Last Minute Notes to KCS 3.5"
- for a description of the "Update" feature).
-
- A new option on the AutoMix menu allows you to alter the colors which
- are used to represent the four groups. It is called "Group Colors...".
-
- The niche mode settings and fader groupings are stored in the snapshots,
- along with the other settings and saved in the AutoMix2 configuration
- file. Unfortunately, the AutoMix2 configuration file, "AutoMix2.CFG"
- is NOT compatible with the original AutoMix configuration file,
- "AutoMix.CFG" so please don't try to change the name of your old
- configuration and get AutoMix2 to read it. It won't work.
-
-
- That's all for now.
