  5.      This file contains information that did not make it into the ACS
  6. manual set.

  14. INSTALLING ON NETWARE V3.11
  15. ========================================================================

  17.      There is an additional step required in order for ACS to work with
  18. Novell  Netware  V3.11.   It  is  required that all volumes on any file
  19. server  to  be  accessed  have the MacIntosh name space added.  This is
  20. accomplished by typing at the fileserver console:
  21.  
  22.      :ADD NAME SPACE MACINTOSH TO VOLUME [VNAME]
  23.  
  24.      Where  VNAME  is  the name of the volume to add the name space to.
  25. Each  volume  on  the  file server must have this step performed on it.
  26. For  instance,  if you had a file server with three volumes, named SYS,
  27. WORK, and PLAY you would have to type:
  28.  
  29.      :ADD NAME SPACE MACINTOSH TO VOLUME SYS
  30.      :ADD NAME SPACE MACINTOSH TO VOLUME WORK
  31.      :ADD NAME SPACE MACINTOSH TO VOLUME PLAY
  32.  
  33.      After  the  name space has been added it will be added permanently
  34. and will not have to be added again.  The only other thing that must be
  35. added  is  a  line  in  the  STARTUP.NCF file.  This is accomplished by
  36. entering  the  INSTALL  console  utility  and  going to SYSTEM OPTIONS,
  37. selecting edit STARTUP.NCF and adding the following:

  39.      LOAD MAC
  40.  
  41.      After  these  changes  have  been made to the STARTUP.NCF file you
  42. must  save  the  changes  by hitting ESC then RETURN.  Once these steps
  43. have  been  performed  you will be able to start up your Amigas and log
  44. into a file server.

  50. SETTING ADDRESSES ON LAN-ROVER ETHERNET CARDS
  51. ========================================================================
  52.  
  53.      The LAN-ROVER Ethernet card from ASDG does not have unique address
  54. ROM's  on  the card.  As a result the ethernet address is not stored on
  55. the  card.   The  only  way  to set the address is to modify the device
  56. drivers  tooltype  ADDRESS  to  reflect  the  address intended for that
  57. ethernet node.
  58.  
  59.      To  modify  the  tooltype  under  AmigaDOS 2.0, open the EXPANSION
  60. drawer  through Workbench.  Look for the icon ASDGEnet and select it by
  61. clicking  on  the  icon.  Once selected pull down the ICONS menu to the
  62. INFORMATION...   option.  You should then see a list of tooltypes.  The
  63. default address should be FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:F0.  Change this address since
  64. each  workstation  requires  a  unique  address.   After  changing  the
  65. tooltype select SAVE.

  67.      Re-boot your Amiga and everything should work marvelous.

  71. PRINTING ON THE AMIGA: Differences between PC/AMIGA
  72. ========================================================================

  74.      One  of the major differences in text file format between PC's and
  75. the AMIGA is the fact that PC's break lines with two control characters
  76. instead of just one.  PC's use the sequence CR/LF while Amigas use only
  77. the  LF character.  One manifestation of this problem is either getting
  78. lines  that  are  double spaced when printed on the Amiga or lines that
  79. flow  diagonally  down the page.

  81.      For  Hewlett-Packard Laserjets this can be eliminated by sending a
  82. escape  sequence that converts LF -> CR/LF during printing.  The escape
  83. sequence  is  ESC&k3G.   This will convert either CR or LF into a CR+LF
  84. sequence.
