- Spice3f4 Amiga Release 1.0 for all CPUs
-
-
- Note....
-
- By popular request (i.e., the one and only email I have recieved regarding
- this program), I have recompiled spice3f4 for all CPUs. I also included a
- "lite" version of Spice for those with less memory (at the cost of a few
- device models and analyses).
-
- Those blessed with an 030/881 or better should take a look at
- "spice3f4.lha" instead. However, it does not contain a "lite" version of
- spice.
-
-
-
-
- What is this?
-
- This is a full port of Spice3f4 (plus the 3f4 patches). All device models
- and analyses in the 3f4 distribution have been included. The full
- simulator has been built, but the standalone "nutmeg" has not (nutmeg is
- spice without any simulation capabilities). "proc2mod" and "multidec"
- have been included and seem to generate reasonable output.
-
-
-
- Requirements
-
- -- AmigaOS 2 or better.
-
- -- A few megs of ram. (I don't know really. The executable is about a
- megabyte.)
-
-
-
- Installation
-
- Just decompress it. It's ready to run. No silly assigns or anything!
- (Well, add the "bin" directory to you path.)
-
- If you are tight on memory, try the "lite" version of the executable. It
- does not contain some device models, and the more esoteric analyses are
- not supported.
-
-
- Documentation
-
- Online help is available with the "help" command. The full docs in
- PostScript format are available by anonymous ftp from
- 'ic.eecs.berkeley.edu'. This site also contains more example circuits.

- Caveats
-
- A few weeks ago, my lovely a4000/040 turned into a somewhat slower
- a4000/ec030 (the CPU card died). As a result, I have not personally been
- able to test it with "Enforcer". I have had someone with an MMU run
- through the examples directory with out problems, but this is not a
- particularly rigorous test.
-
- As if all that wasn't enough, I don't seem to know anybody with anything
- less than 3.0 anymore, so although I was careful to not do anything 3.x
- specific, it is possible something slipped by. There is only one little
- file with Amiga specific stuff, so there isn't all that much room for me
- to screw that up. Come to think of it, if somebody _really_ needs a 1.3
- compatible version, then it shouldn't be too difficult.
-
-
-
- Notes
-
- Viewing "plot" output requires screen flipping. I know this is annoying
- (especially when "quit"ting the program). The program clones the
- workbench screen, so some plots may be difficult to see. On a more
- positive note, the plots first tries to use "xen.font" then it falls back
- to your default screen font.
-
- Spice expects some files to be in "progdir:/lib" so if you move files
- around, keep this in mind. Some AmigaDOS magic makes "progdir:" point to
- there directory where the program is located. (If spice doesn't find these
- files then it will complain, but all should work anyway--except for the
- online help).
-
- If anyone is actually using this, please let me know--especially if you
- are using it under 2.0 or on something other than an a4000. One email I'd
- like to get would be something like, "I ran X, Y, and Z and there were
- absolutely no Enforcer hits."
