  2. Home Front(tm)
  3.  
  4. Additions improvements to Version 2.0 of HomeFront(tm) are many
  5. over the original program.  As always, after the manual has gone
  6. to press there are changes or additions in the program or
  7. documentation which we did not foresee.  This file will address
  8. these changes addendum etc., as well as a "quick startup"
  9. section for those who want to get their feet wet without reading
  10. through the manual.

  12. Additions & Improvements:

  14.  Transactions Module:
  15.   Dates:
  16.     When in the "Add" mode, you can press the "down arrow" at the 
  17.     date prompt to restore the last entered date.
  18.  
  19.   Transaction #'s:
  20.    Notice that the transaction # will automatically increment as 
  21.    you enter them.  This should speed things up if you are       
  22.    entering the transactions in sorted numerical order.  You can 
  23.    accept this input using the "down arrow" or the Enter key.

  26. Quick Startup:
  27.  
  28. NOTE: DO NOT PROCEED BY USING THE ORIGINAL PROGRAM DISKETTE. 
  29. Make a backup now!  Our programs are never copy protected and may
  30. be duplicated using the standard AmigaDOS "diskcopy" command.
  31.  
  32. The fastest way to begin using HomeFront(tm) is to try the
  33. program out.  
  34.  
  35. 1. Format a blank disk and name it "HFData".
  36.  
  37. 2. Click on the "MainMenu" icon and observe the modules selection
  38. menu.
  39.  
  40. 3. Press the "Esc" key located at the upper left of your
  41. keyboard.
  42.  
  43. 4. At the prompts, fill in your personal information, ie name,
  44. address, city, etc.  When you get to the section for "Prog Disk"
  45. type in "HF:" (this is the shipping disk's name).  At the "Data
  46. Disk" prompt, enter "HFData:" (this is the blank disk you created
  47. in step #1).  Leave "Password" as "None".  If you have a battery
  48. backed up clock in your computer enter "Y".  Press the return key
  49. at the "Fiscal Year" prompts.  If you are using a 512K Amiga
  50. computer then enter "Y" to "Less 1 MEG." otherwise leave the
  51. prompt set to "N".  At "System Palette", enter a "N".
  52.  
  53. 5. "Accept Modification" by clicking on the gadget, pressing the
  54. highlighted "A" key, or press the enter key.  
  55.  
  56. NOTE: The selection that is on the farthest left side of the
  57. menu bar is always the default, if this is the selection you
  58. desire, simply press the enter key and that gadget will be
  59. highlighted and selected.

  61. 6. At the "Main Menu" select the "(A)ccounting" gadget.
  62.  
  63. 7. At the "Accounting Menu" select "(U)tilities" 
  64.  
  65. 8. Select "(B)uild Accounts".
  66.  
  67. Everything that Homefront(tm) needed to operate has now been
  68. completed.  All that is left is for you to go into the "Accounts"
  69. module and set up your accounts, then into the "Categories"
  70. module and set up your categories.  You can then start entering
  71. transactions inside the "Transactions" module.

  73. It is good idea to experiment a little with the system to get
  74. familiar to it but, when you are ready to enter real data, we
  75. suggest you format a data disk and start the process from
  76. "(B)uild Accounts" as above.

  79. Updating HomeFront(tm) Version 1.0 Data Files To Version 2.0:

  81. In the C: directory of this disk is a conversion program called
  82. "ConvertHF".  The proper usage for ConvertHF is;
  83.  
  84.      ConvertHF Source_path_name [Destination_path_name]
  85.  
  86. ie;
  87.      ConvertHF OldData: NewHFData:
  88.  
  89. This program is pretty simple to use.  Be sure not to use your
  90. original data disks, ALWAYS USE BACKUPS WITH CONVERTHF!. If you
  91. have enough room the conversion can take place on the same
  92. diskette, otherwise you must use two different diskettes.  Just
  93. answer the questions at the prompts, and the program will do the
  94. rest.

  96. After you have converted the files you will need to configure the
  97. system as always telling HomeFront(tm) where to find the "Data
  98. Disk" and "Supl Data Disk".  Next, from the Accounting Menu, go
  99. to the Utility module and;

  101. 1. Pack/Reindex the files.
  102. 2. Re-Write the transactions.
  103.  
  104. The conversion process is now complete.  All files are now
  105. HomeFront(tm) 2.0 compatible.
