  6. WHAT IS IT?

  9. Executive is a UNIX-like task scheduler for Amiga. It also has plenty of
  10. other features previously available only in larger operating systems.

  12. Executive improves the responsiveness of your Amiga. No longer running
  13. a CPU intensive program causes the whole machine to slow down. You can
  14. start many CPU intensive programs and the machine still feels as fast
  15. as before.

  17. Executive also includes many useful client programs which let you control
  18. tasks and monitor what's going on in your system.

  20. No similar programs for Amiga have been made before, so you may not exactly
  21. know what Executive is all about, but give it a little time and read the
  22. documentation and you won't regret it!

  25. REQUIREMENTS

  28. Executive requires at least AmigaDos 2.04. Localization will be available
  29. if you're using AmigaDos 2.1 or newer.
  30.  
  31. MagicUserInterface (MUI) is not required, although some clients use it.
  32. Currently, version 2.3 of MUI is required, although I have included support
  33. for MUI V3. If you don't have MUI or don't want to use it, the programs
  34. that use MUI are also available with standard GadTools interface.

  36. Executive requires approximately 1MB of hard disk space for full
  37. installation.

  40. INSTALLATION

  43. Installation is easy, just click on the Installation icon and Executive
  44. will be installed. The installation is safe, there's no risk of overwriting
  45. any files and you can later uninstall easily by using the uninstallation
  46. script. This will completely remove Executive from your system. If you
  47. abort the installation, files that were installed will be deleted.

  49. All files except a locale catalog are installed to a single directory.

  51. I suggest you install Executive in expert user -mode. This will let you
  52. choose from different types of icons and documentation.

  54. You really want to use the Installer script and not to try install
  55. Executive manually. If you don't have the standard Amiga Installer-
  56. utility, you can download it from any Aminet site, the file is:
  57. util/misc/Installer-1.25.lzh.
