  28. I. INSTALLING MACROFORM
  29. ---------------------------------------------------------------------
  30. Note: If you have trouble installing MacroForm, you should perform
  31. the installation in expert mode; you will have to tell the installer
  32. exactly were to install the various files.  If you still experience
  33. problems, create an "Arexx_Examples" directory in your "NewTek"
  34. directory, create an "lwm" directory inside of that new
  35. "Arexx_Examples" directory, and activate the MacroForm installer.
  36. If the MacroForm key-set will not work properly, you will have to
  37. create a new one.  Look at the KeyMaster requester figure on page 73
  38. of your MacroForm manual to get the key assignments.
  39.  
  40. If KeyMaster should fail when you try to activate it by hitting F1 in
  41. Modeler, there may be an extra space before the path name; activate
  42. Configure Keys in Modeler and delete the space that exists before the
  43. path name(s).  If the problem happens after you have loaded the 
  44. "MacroForm" Fkey-set, get rid of all the spaces in Cofigure Keys,
  45. activate KeyMaster(F1) and resave this set-up as "MacroForm".
  46.  
  47.   Arexx MUST be alreading running before installing MacroForm!  Once
  48.   Arexx is active, installing MacroForm is essentially a 4 step
  49.   process...
  50.  
  51.     1. Insert "Disk1" into your floppy drive (already done)
  52.  
  53.     2. Double-click on the MacroForm_Install icon
  54.  
  55.     3. Follow the installer instructions if any
  56.  
  57.     4. Restart your computer
  58.  
  59.   During the installation you may come across the "Assign Keymaster
  60.   to F-Key 1..." screen.  What this means is if the Modeler is
  61.   running, the installer will assign the MacroForm utility "KeyMaster"
  62.   to function key 1 in your Modeler function key assignments.  It will
  63.   also make this assignment by creating a new Mod-config file (the
  64.   original is renamed "Mod-config-B4MacroForm").  This is performed as
  65.   a convenience; with KeyMaster properly installed, you will be able
  66.   to access the entire MacroForm environment with just a few mouse
  67.   clicks (see page 20 of your MacroForm manual).

  69.   Also, since MacroForm is compiled with the RexxPlus Compiler, 
  70.   RPStart is added to your user-startup file if RexxPlus has not
  71.   previously been installed.

  73.   If something should go wrong with the installation, it is possible
  74.   to do it manually...

  76.    Manual Installation ··············································

  78.     To install MacroForm you will need to copy files from the
  79.     MacroForm disks to the appropriate directories on your
  80.     hard drive. If you are using a directory utility this
  81.     installation will be easier; if not, you will have to 
  82.     select "Show -> All Files" from the "Window" menu on the
  83.     Workbench screen (otherwise you won't be able to see the
  84.     files that you need to drag).

  86.     1. Insert "Disk1" into your floppy drive
  87.  
  88.     2. Drag the "MacroForm" folder from "Disk1" over to your
  89.         "Toaster" directory
  90.  
  91.     3. Select the contents of the "C" directory on "Disk1"
  92.         and drag them over to your "Workbench/C" directory
  93.  
  94.     4. Select the contents of the "S" directory on "Disk1"
  95.         and drag them over to your "Workbench/S" directory
  96.  
  97.     5. Select the contents of the "lwm" directory on "Disk1"
  98.         and drag them over to your "Toaster/Arexx_Examples/lwm"
  99.         directory

  101.     6. Insert "Disk2" into your floppy drive
  102.  
  103.     7. Select the contents of the "LIBS" directory on "Disk2"
  104.         and drag them over to your "Workbench/LIBS" directory
  105.  
  106.     8. Select the contents of the "lwm" directory on "Disk2"
  107.         and drag them over to your "Toaster/Arexx_Examples/lwm"
  108.         directory

  110.     9. Drag the "Tutorials" directory from "Disk2" over to your
  111.         "Toaster/MacroForm" directory
  112.  
  113.     10.Insert "Disk3" into your floppy drive
  114.  
  115.     11.Select the contents of the "tutorials" directory on "Disk3"
  116.         and drag them over to your "Toaster/MacroForm/Tutorials"
  117.         directory

  119.     Next you will need to alter your user-startup file. Add 
  120.     these lines to the end of your user-startup file if you don't
  121.     currently have RexxPlus Compiler installed...
  122.  
  123.         ;BEGIN RexxPlus

  127.     Lastly, you MUST re-start your system!  Also, after your
  128.     system is restarted, you will have to assign
  129.     "OAO--KeyMaster.lwm" to function key 1 in Modeler.

  136. II. Release Notes
  137. ---------------------------------------------------------------------
  138.   Although we've tried to be as thorough as possible with the 
  139.   MacroForm manual, some things inevitably slip through the cracks...
  140.  
  141.     a. In the "Fixing Curve Order" example on page 60, step # 8 says
  142.        "activate Apply (F8)".  Actually, you will have to repeat
  143.        steps 3 thru 8 of the "Curve Order Test" example on page 58.
  144.        This is because the formfile that was created had the wrong
  145.        point associations.  So, activating Apply will not produce
  146.        the desired results.
  147.  
  148.     b. In the "Breathing Can" Class Discussion on page 205, in
  149.        the second paragraph it states: "Next we moved the middle 
  150.        point on the model horizontally...". It should say: "...
  151.        middle point on the CURVE horizontally...".  Also, if you
  152.        have trouble loading the "Breathing_Can" scene into Layout
  153.        from the "/MacroForm/Scenes" directory, when you are asked
  154.        for a new directory, the objects are located in the
  155.        "/MacroForm/Tutorials/Discussions/Can" directory.

  157.     c. Click OK or hit Return after Step #10 of the 'Rounded Square
  158.        Bottle' on page 37.
  159.  
  160.     d. In the sub-note of Step #8 of the 'Apply and Reset Mode
  161.        Demonstrations' on page 39, it indicates that a curve will be
  162.        created.  The curve was already created by the Bottle Twist
  163.        tutorial; no new curve will be created.
  164.  
  165.     e. Do not be alarmed by the display after a rail tool operation.
  166.        You will have to force it to redraw by moving it or moving to
  167.        a different layer.
  168.  
  169.     f. If you hit the Right Amiga - X keystrokes to get rid of
  170.        the path name in the Formfile and/or Tempfile fields in
  171.        RailToolz Preferences and click OK, you will presented
  172.        with a file requester.  This is provided as a convenience
  173.        since you may not always know the proper path name.
  174.  
  175.     g. A height of 0 (zero) entered in the height field in
  176.        NewBox will create a single rounded polygon in the top 
  177.        view.  This is not true for the width and depth.
  178.  
  179.     h. The MOD section of the RailToolz requester will have 
  180.        different symbols if you enter Modeler by clicking on its
  181.        icon in the Toaster directory (rather than entering
  182.        through Layout with the Modeler button).  The Apply
  183.        symbol will become "·" and the Control curve symbol will
  184.        become "¤".  The Clone mode symbol will be the same.
  185.  
  186.     i. The Resistance values in RailStretch will use floating
  187.        point values as well as integers (i.e., 1.5, 3.398, 0.75,
  188.        etc.)  Negative numbers will be converted to thier
  189.        absolute value.
  190.  
  191.     j. In the manual it states that your Curves should always be
  192.        in the foreground when you activate Apply(F8).  While this
  193.        is the safest method, there is another; if the data that
  194.        you are editing is brought to the foreground, and if you
  195.        put your curves in the background, Apply will still
  196.        perform properly when you activate it.  You can use either
  197.        method but, NEVER ACTIVATE APPLY WHEN YOUR MODEL IS IN THE
  198.        FOREGROUND AND YOUR CURVES ARE NOT IN THE BACK...if you
  199.        have a formfile in the layer that holds your model, you
  200.        may inadvertantly alter data in another layer.  Initialize
  201.        RailToolz whenever possible to get rid of old formfiles.
  202.  
  203.     k. The LAYER/INFO section of the RailToolz requester was
  204.        briefly touched upon in a few Tips, Hints, and FYI
  205.        sidebars.  We would like to have included a chart for
  206.        this area in the Appendix.  What this area does is list
  207.        the layer number that a particular tool is currently in
  208.        Apply mode.  This is provided for those occasions when
  209.        you have multiple Apply mode curves, but, can't
  210.        remember which curve was performing a given rail tool
  211.        operation.  Also, for RailRout, it displays the current
  212.        router file name if there is one.

  220. ---------------------------------------------------------------------
  221.   Sorry...we are sorely under-staffed; and, unless the Amiga market
  222.   picks up, and unless we all do our part to prevent piracy of this
  223.   software, this situation is not likely to change.

  225.   In our effort to provide you with the clearest and most thorough
  226.   documentation ever created for a 3D product, we have created the
  227.   220+ page and 150+ figure Macroform Manual (we have also included
  228.   the Tutorials macro).  So, in most cases, if you consult your
  229.   MacroForm manual, your questions will be answered.  However, if you
  230.   have any major problems, bug reports, comments or suggestions, we
  231.   may be contacted at 908-964-4546.  But, please...read your
  232.   MacroForm manual thoroughly before calling for tech support.

  235.   automatically whenever we feel it's needed; and, you will receive
