- We thank you for purchasing TapeWorm-FS, a revolutionary new
- program for using streaming tape storage devices on the Amiga.
- We are sure that TapeWorm-FS will become an indispensable part of
- your system software. Let us know what you think! Your suggestions
- and/or comments are welcome.

- Special Notes
- -------------
-
- Owners who have 24-Bit DMA controllers and non-DMA 32-bit memory may
- need to set the 'USE24BITDMA' flag in the 'S:TW.config' file. Some
- controllers handle this situation automatically, while others require
- the use of this flag. To change this flag use a text editor to edit
- the 'S:TW.config' file and change the line 'USE24BITDMA = FALSE' to
- 'USE24BITDMA = TRUE'.
-
- It is possible to have multiple tape drives mounted with TapeWorm-FS.
- To do this you must change the name and 'Startup=' values of the 'TAPE:'
- mount entry and use the 'CONFIG=' and 'DEVICE_NAME=' tooltypes of the
- TWConfig program.
-
- If your tape drive has a switch for SCSI 1 or SCSI 2 mode set it to
- SCSI 2 mode. SCSI 1 mode does not support the Fast Locate or
- Partitioning commands that SCSI 2 mode does.
-
- -------------------------------
- Changes from Version 1.0 to 1.2
- -------------------------------
-
- Fixed a problem that occured when rebuilding the directory of a tape that
- uses the 'Keep .info files with directory' option. The rebuild was not
- setting the size of some files in the rebuilt directory properly.
-
- Changed the filesystem so that it doesn't use the WRITE_FILEMARKS SCSI
- command with a zero argument. Some drives (most notabably some A3070's)
- don't adhere to the SCSI standard with with regards to this command
- resulting in TapeWorm-FS not working.
-
- Changed the way that eject is called. Some HP DAT drives were not properly
- ejecting the tape.
-
- Changed the filesystem so that it makes sure that everything is flushed
- to the directory file of the tape currently in the drive every 4 seconds.
- Before some things weren't being flushed until the tape was ejected. This
- could cause problems when copying files to a tape and then rebooting without
- ejecting the tape. (This was fixed in version 1.1)
-
- The filesystem was freeing some memory it shouldn't have if there was an
- error while starting up.
-
- -------------------------------
- Changes from Version 1.2 to 1.3
- -------------------------------
-
- We have added a new configuration parameter "IGNOREFILEMARKS" specifically
- to support Commodore A3070 drives based on the Caliper CP150 mechanism. The
- configuration program automatically recognizes the affected drives and sets
- this parameter to true. Setting this parameter to true may also help with
- other drives that have similar problems.
-
- Previous versions of TapeWorm-FS weren't deleting the directory file on disk
- when the keep directory on tape option was set. We have changed TapeWorm-FS
- so that it now deletes the directory file on disk after successfully writing
- it to tape. The advantage of this is that directory files don't take up
- space on your hard disk except when a tape is in the drive. The disadvantage
- is that the directory must be loaded from tape on insertion.
-
- ------------------
- Future Directions
- ------------------
-
- We are currently working on increasing the speed of TapeWorm-FS on low-end
- tape drives (ones with very small (or no) built in buffers) by adding read-
- ahead and write-behind buffering to the filesystem.
