- Thank you for purchasing ADDRESS IT!
-
- This version is release 1.60, 12/26/94.
- Fixed label printing error when using HP4L. Labels wouldn't center
- properly.
-
- This version is release 1.52, 08/11/94.
- Fixed recurring bug in browse mode with long addresses.
-
- This version is release 1.5, 04/15/94.
-
- Major upgrade! 3D look, bug fixes, new features. See your users
- manual addendum for the whole scoop!
-
- This version is release 1.1d, 09/25/93.
-
- Maintenance update: * fixed bug in LIST requester, when you DELETE
- an entry without selecting it, the window
- freezes... all fixed.
-
- * fixed "staggering" problems in BROWSE mode,
- where entries were bigger than their
- defaults. This was one of those "fix one
- bug only to create another". Ah, life...
-
- This version is release 1.1c.
-
- Maintenance update: improved importing routines A LOT! Things should
- work better here now. In addition, the program will close WorkBench down if
- there is less than 150k of CHIP RAM available.
-
- This version is release 1.1b.
-
- IF YOU ARE UPGRADING FROM A PREVIOUS VERSION:
- =============================================
- The install program now works when re-installing the program to a
- directory that already exists. To upgrade, you may either drag the ADDRESSIT
- main icon onto your hard disk, or run the install program. BE WARNED: If you
- choose to use the INSTALL program, it will write over the contents of the
- "default.list" file - so if you have added any of your own cities or whatever,
- either back up this file first or just drag the icon from the floppy onto your
- hard drive. NOTE: THIS IS NO LONGER TRUE IN v1.5!
-
- ENHANCEMENTS IN V1.1B:
- ======================
-
- * Made exporting use separate lines for multiple address lines
- * Fixed BROWSE mode so that you can now display LONGER city names
- and so on.
- * Import/Export facilities now allow you to specify both FIRST and
- LAST name separately (instead of just importing FULL NAME).
- * ASL File requester support! Address It! now supports three different
- file requesters. The order of preference is:
-
- 1) ASL File Requester, available on AmigaDOS 2.x and 3.x.
- 2) REQ.LIBRARY file requester. Available if you install it.
- (use the LIB_INSTALL program, which is included. It is
- recommended you do this if you are using 1.3 or lower).
- 3) Built-in file requester.
-
- Address It! will look for the requesters in the order as listed
- above (ie: if it can't find the ASL requester, it will look for
- the REQ.LIBRARY, and so on).
- * Loading a ready made database from the CLI or a project icon will now
- NOT activate the Salutation string gadget. This allows 2.x and
- 3.x users to use menu shortcuts right away.
- * Salutation size has been increased from 7 to 15 characters. This
- should allow for things like "Mr. & Mrs." and so on.
- * Cosmetic gadget changes in the Custom List requester.
- * New proportional gadget look for machines running 2.x and 3.x.
- * String gadgets in main program now use the TAB CYCLE routines provided
- by 2.x and 3.x. You can now use TAB to go forward and SHIFT-TAB
- to go backwards through the gadgets.
-
- This version is release 1.1a.
-
- IF YOU ARE UPGRADING FROM 1.0 to 1.1:
- =====================================
-
- If you have a hard disk, and have Version 1.0 installed, all that
- you need to do is open your hard disk to find the old Address It! drawer.
- Then open the floppy disk and DRAG the new program icon (from the floppy)
- ontop of the Address It! drawer. YOU MAY RUN THE INSTALL PROGRAM AGAIN,
- BUT! you will lose any changes you might have made to both the CUSTOM
- LISTS file, and the CONFIGURATION FILE.
- FOR HARD DISK AND FLOPPY USERS: Although the format of the data
- files for V1.1 is slightly different, it is of no concern to you. All of
- your current data files will still load.
- Finally, there has been a program change in the "Free_Software"
- drawer, so the contents will be slightly different from the last release.
- ============================================================================
-
- NOTE: Address It! V1.1 now comes with the "req.library", and
- works with it. HOWEVER, IT IS NOT NECESSARY. If you do not already
- have it, or do not wish to install it (with the provided program), you
- DO NOT have to (it requires approximately 18K on your boot disk). The
- main advantage to using it is a MUCH NICER file requester.
- THERE IS A SEPARATE INSTALL PROGRAM FOR THE REQ.LIBRARY IN CASE
- YOU DO NOT ALREADY HAVE IT. IT MUST BE RUN FROM THE FLOPPY! AS IT WILL
- NOT BE COPIED WITH THE OTHER INSTALL PROGRAM. THE REASON FOR THIS IS THAT
- IT IS OPTIONAL.
- Finally, as requested by the original programmers, there are
- three other files included with the req.library. "Req.DOC" is the
- document file (an icon is provided for ease of reading), and for programmers
- there are two include files also on the disk (reqbase.h and reqbase.i).
-
- ENHANCEMENTS IN V1.1
- ====================
-
- BUG FIXES
- ---------
-
- * V1.0 did not properly store the values entered into
- "Labels Across" and "Label Spacing Across" when a file
- was saved.
-
- * The configuration file would not load upon program
- startup! Don't know how this one slipped by, but it is
- fixed now.
-
- * Small cosmetic problem when doing a search with no
- matches on a new record. All gone!
-
- * When working with large rotary cards and in condensed
- mode the display was slightly unpredictable. All fixed.
-
- NEW FEATURES
- ------------
-
- * Added the ability to SORT any custom list alphabetically
- (ascending order only). Makes finding many entries quick.
-
- * Also in the CUSTOM LIST requester, it is now easier to
- tell when you are modifying, as the bottom gadget changes
- from "Add" to "Modify!", instead of just being "Add/OK".
-
- * In order to conform to U.S. Postal service guidelines
- (for our many U.S. customers) the CONFIGURE requester now
- has options for the following:
-
- > US Postal Format. This option lists entries as
- CITY, STATE CODE on one line.
-
- > UPPERcase Printing. U.S. Postal guidelines request
- that all printing be uppercase, so this option is
- here for those who desire it. IT WILL NOT AFFECT
- YOUR DATA, just the final printout.
-
- > Comma Separator. Again, according to U.S. Postal
- guidelines, no punctuation should be used. Because
- Address It! normally puts a "," between the City
- and State, you can turn this off so it is just a
- space (" ").
-
- Remember for these options to be in effect for all of your
- files, you MUST save the configuration if you make any
- changes.
-
- * The three Address lines have increased from 25 characters
- in length to 30 characters. This was done to accomodate
- certain customers without comprimising too much memory
- consumption.
-
- * Added support for the req.library, to utilize its much
- better file requester. It is optional, and a separate
- install program is provided (see above for more details).
-
- * Added the ability to sort by CODE (Zip or Postal), for
- those who do mass mailings requiring this type of sorting.
-
- 1.1a * Address It! now saves files with ICONS, so that you may
- launch the program with a default file you wish to use.
- You may also specify a file to run when running the program
- from the CLI or through a batchfile. For example, to have
- Address It! load up with the "sample" file provided, you
- would use the line:
-
- 1>addressit sample
-
- From the SHELL or CLI.
-
- * The SEARCH requester now has the gadget "Search" as the
- default gadget. This allows you just to press RETURN or
- ENTER after you have typed the required string, without
- having to use the mouse at all.
-
- Although we have done our best to ensure there are no bugs in
- this product, should you encounter one, we would appreciate hearing from
- you. In return, we will make sure you get an update free of charge.
-
- One thing that did not make it into the manual is the fact that
- there is a sample file on the disk called (appropriately) "sample", that
- has a few records in it for you to play with if you desire.
-
- Also on this disk you will find a drawer called "Free_Software".
- In it, you will find most of the programs that our company has previously
- released through the Fish Disks. For those of you who do not have copies
- of these programs, here you go. It is our plan in the future to include
- other free software on our disks. We hope you feel you are getting great
- value for your money.
-
- Finally, we would like to tell you what we are working on for the
- future!
-
