- *********************** DeluxePaint® V ReadMe File ************************
-
- Thank you for purchasing DeluxePaint V. Electronic Arts® would like
- to thank all those customers and beta testers who provided us with great
- feedback and reports on how to improve the program. We would also like
- to remind everyone that we are always looking for suggestions on how
- to make this program the best it can be.
-
- Amiga enthusiasts are a dying breed lately. We have worked extremely
- hard at getting DeluxePaint V done--ask anyone involved in the project.
- We would love to keep improving the software but only Amiga users can
- decide that--if you want to keep seeing better versions of this software
- and Amiga software and hardware from other companies, then put your
- money where your mouth is and support your Amiga software, and peripheral
- manufacturers and local dealers by purchasing their goods and services.
- This is the only way your favorite computer and video/animation tool
- will thrive and continue to be supported. If you're using anyone's
- software and have not purchased it, now is the time to think really
- hard about how much value you put on that piece of software.
-
- Remember piracy and "lending your software" hurts everyone.
- Don't buckle under peer pressure--be a leader not a follower.
-
- Spread the word, not the software.
-
- Version 5.2 - 11/05/95
-
- There have been many, many changes made to this version of DeluxePaint.

-
- - Things to be aware of:
-
- 1. Electronics Arts WILL NOT give you technical support for any
- ARexx programming questions, but will answer general questions about
- how documented ARexx commands are supposed to work.
-
- 2. If DPaint V seems slower to you, it's because the program has much
- more data to deal with. If you want to operate in the fastest
- possible manner, use the lowest color depth you can, turn off the
- 24-bit RGB backing store if you don't really need it, textures,
- LightTable dim layers, etc..
- These new features are great, but they're also very CPU-intensive.
-
- 3. When you have the 24-Bit RGB backing store on, your files will
- always be saved in 24-Bit IFF. DeluxePaint does not convert 24 Bit
- RGB or HAM animations to any other format. You can however, convert
- them as a series of pictures using the "frames" option in Save/Load.
-
- 4. Once you have created an Animation in HAM you should NOT do a
- Recompute as that will corrupt your frame deltas and animation
- in general. Please see the manual for more info on Recompute.
-
- 5. If you receive a "Can't Load..." error message chances are the program
- cannot allocate enough memory to load your file in the chosen screen
- format. Choose a lower resolution or fewer colors and try again.
-
- 6. The icons provided with this release are 8 & 16 color icons optimized
- for Amiga DOS 3.0, if you normally run your workbench in 4 color mode
- there are 4 color icons for the program and player in the Icons
- drawer that is installed by the DeluxePaint Installer. Simply replace
- the DPaint.info and Player.info files with those in the Icons drawer.
-
- 7. When creating camera moves it is recommended that you load or create
- your camera move image on your spare page instead of your main page.
- This will save you the step of having to reset your animation page size.
-
- 8. The larger the image being used in a Camera move is, the less accurate
- the adjust preview will be. So please be aware that you may have to
- fine tune your Start and End adjustments by a few pixels.
-
- 9. The system patches included on disk 4 are to help improve the operation
- of DeluxePaint and your system. Please read the setpatch readme's
- before attempting to patch your system. Setpatch 37 is for system 2.04
- users only. Setpatch 40 is for system 3.0 users only.
-
- 10. The ASL libraries included on disk 4 are to improve the performance of
- the Load and Save info-options panels in DeluxePaint. The file in the
- V38_ASL drawer is for System 2.04 users only. The file in the V40_ASL
- drawer is for System 3.0 users only. These files can be copied to your
- system's LIBS: drawer.
-
- Thank you for your purchase of DeluxePaint V for The Amiga Computer.
- Please consult your manual for information on making working copies
- or installing to a hard drive.
