  16. DESCRIPTION

  18.   ShapeShifter is a multitasking shareware Macintosh-II emulator for
  19.   the Amiga computer. It allows to run Macintosh software concurrently
  20.   to Amiga applications without hardware add-ons or modifications.
  21.  
  22.   Some of the emulation's features:
  23.  
  24.    - Color display up to 256 colors on AGA Amigas (16 colors on ECS)
  25.      and up to 16.7 million colors on graphics cards
  26.    - Support for one or two monitors
  27.    - No MMU required, even runs on A1200
  28.    - Macintosh hard disks can be simulated in Amiga files or Amiga
  29.      hard disk partitions
  30.      [unregistered version has no hard disk partition support]
  31.    - Can use Amiga floppy drives, serial, parallel and SCSI ports
  32.      from the Mac
  33.      [use of SCSI not possible in unregistered version]
  34.    - Mac HD disks can be read directly with an HD floppy drive,
  35.      Mac 720K disks can be used with any Amiga floppy drive. To use
  36.      Mac 800K disks, you have to own CrossMAC and an original Mac
  37.      drive
  38.    - Multichannel sound output and parallel-port sound digitizers
  39.      supported
  40.    - Access to Ethernet networks
  41.    - Text clipboard sharing between Mac and Amiga
  42.    - File handler to access Macintosh volumes from the Workbench
  43.    - Speed comparable to a real Mac with equivalent hardware

  45.   The most important changes in V3.3:

  47.    - The ShapeShifter settings can now be loaded and saved into
  48.      arbitrary files
  49.    - The SCSI Manager supports LUNs (this especially affects ZIP
  50.      drives)
  51.    - The "Newton Package Installer" works

  53. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  54.  
  55.   OS2.1, 68020 processor, 4MB of RAM, HD floppy drive recommended.
  56.   A copy of a Macintosh 512K or 1MB ROM and the Macintosh system
  57.   software are not included, but required. The ROM can be read off
  58.   of a real Mac by using a supplied program, the system software
  59.   can be bought from Apple. Note, however, that reading the ROM is
  60.   only legal if you have bought the ROMs or own a real Macintosh.
