- AMIA is a special interface that allows 800K Macintosh compatible floppy
- drives to be used with any Amiga computer.
-
- Please note that this product plugs into your Amiga's disk drive port,
- or into the back (passthru) of the last external disk drive connected
- to your Amiga. DO NOT plug AMIA into any other port!
-
- AMIA has a standard 19 pin connector found on 800K Macintosh compatible
- drives. Please note the following diagram for proper installation:

- Use the installer program included on this disk to install the latest
- version of EMPLANT's Macintosh emulation (v4.6). The installer will
- create a new file called 'amia.device'. This is the device driver
- that runs the AMIA hardware. Without it, AMIA will not function.
-
- AMIA can be used with the 'Converter' program to convert 800K Macintosh
- floppys to EMPLANT or AMAX formats.
-
- AMIA can also be used with EMPLANT's Macintosh emulation module to read
- and write low density disk format. Due to the AMIA's duplication of
- all Macintosh drive functionality, it is possible to load copy protected
- software when using the emulation.
-
- AMIA can be used with AMAX II in place of the original cartridge, if
- you have a version that bypasses the cartridge. NOTE: By law, you must
- own the AMAX II system in order to use this feature.
-
- AMIA can be used to read and write individual sectors using any sector
- editor. A sample DOSDriver is included with this disk. Just double
- click on the driver to mount the drive. NOTE: YOU CAN NOT HAVE THE
- DEVICE MOUNTED AND ATTEMPT TO USE AMIA WITH EMPLANT'S MACINTOSH
- EMULATION....only one task can be using the AMIA hardware at a time.
- Likewise, attempting to mount the device while the emulation is running
- will result in a failure.
