- FUNCTION
- IncSearch is a replacement for the IncSearch routine by Kjell Ericson.
- This routine offers:
- * C-s continues search forwards.
- * C-r continues search backwards.
- * Break-out on cursor keys (actually any non-pritable chars).
- * Cancel on C-g (return to start point).
- * A lot faster than IncSearch (due to no highlighting)
-
- What makes incremental search special is that each new letter brings
- you to the next match string, opposed to "full string search" where
- the search is done on a static string.
- Each new letter equals a "step", as does C-s and C-r. These steps can be
- backtracked with backspace.
- If you add a letter to the search string which is not found, the cursor
- stays at the last match location and the screen flashes - this will not
- be recorded as a step.
-
- By pressing C-s/r without specifying a search string (e.g. C-s C-s)
- the search string from previous session is used. Try it out if you don't
- see what I mean.
-
- HISTORY (REV)
- 08.03.95 (2) Kjell Ericson made a few (nice) changes:
- - Key bindings are now made in this file.
- - Search flags are restored.
- - Previous search session may be continued by pressing
- C-s/r if there is no string (potential bug here :)
- 26.02.95 (1) I told me! Two stupid bugs out...
- 24.02.95 (0) Works :)
-
- BUGS
- I guess.... You tell me!
-
- TODO
- Wrapped search - C-s/r following a non-match would cause the routine to
- wrap the buffer, thus doing a full buffer search.
