  13. This is version 2.0 of EGSPhotoAlbum, the comfortable Shareware
  14. picture management and presentation software for EGS. To use EGSPhotoAlbum
  15. as full version you need a keyfile, which can be obtained by registering
  16. directly by me (see below for registration fees). Without keyfile
  17. EGSPhotoAlbum has some restrictions.

  19. What does EGSPhotoAlbum offer?
  20. ------------------------------
  21.  
  22. EGSPhotoAlbum is a pure EGS program. It offers easy access to large
  23. collections of picture files on your harddrive with a comfort similair
  24. to that of PhotoCDs.
  25.  
  26. The current version supports the following picture file formats:
  27.  
  28. * JPeg (for color and greyscale pictures)
  29. * IFF-ILBM24 (compressed and uncompressed)
  30. * GIF (new! serveral variants, non-interleaved) (® CompuServe Corp.)
  31. * PPM-P6
  32. * QRT (also known as dump format in the PD raytracer POV)
  33. * Targa (compressed and uncompressed; TopDown and BottomUp)
  34. * EGS7.x window iconification icons
  35.  
  36. Other file formats (e.g. greyscale formats and more IFF formats, ...)
  37. will be implemented in future versions. Maybe datatypes will be supported
  38. under OS3.x in the future as well...
  39.  
  40. EGSPhotoAlbum shows whole directories of pictures with downscaled
  41. preview automatically. Special fast loading functions for downscaled
  42. loading are used. EGSPhotoAlbum offers
  43.  
  44. * full automatic layout of the preview pages with fixed or variable
  45.   field size (max. field size can be selected)
  46.  
  47. * flexible subtitling of images (new!) with file name, file format,
  48.   image size, ...
  49.  
  50. * Page turning functions to turn the page like in a real PhotoAlbum...
  51.   (now also available as menu entries with shortcuts in the picture window)
  52.  
  53. * Viewing of pictures in full size by mouse click (only in full version);
  54.   an unlimited number of full size picture windows (limited only by memory)
  55.   can be open at the same time.

  85. All this is done with a font sensitive EGS user interface which can be
  86. used even on largest Screens and in full 24Bit color quality.

  88. Many extensions (as slideshow with transition effects, ...) could be
  89. integrated in the future, if there is enough response and the number
  90. of registered users will be high enough. The keyfile concept offers
  91. registered users the possibilty to use future demo versions auto-
  92. matically as update for their full version.

  94. Requirements
  95. ------------

  97. * Amiga-OS 2.04 or higher; OS3.x is recommended for future versions,
  98.   if DataTypes are supported by EGSPhotoAlbum
  99.  
  100. * EGS-System version 6.0 or higher
  101.   EGS System 7.x users can find a window iconification icon in the
  102.   archive (subdirectory EGS-Icons). This can be copied to EGS:EGS-Icons
  103.   and will then be used as iconification icon instead of the default
  104.   icon for all EGSPhotoAlbum windows; EGSPhotoAlbum can now load and
  105.   create such icons...
  106.  
  107. * Much memory (at least 2MByte Fast-RAM; more is really recommended to
  108.   use EGSPhotoAlbum comfortably; the caching algorithms can use lots
  109.   of memory)

  111. Registering
  112. -----------
  113.  
  114. The registration fee for EGSPhotoAlbum is currently 18US$ (as cheque) or
  115. 15US$ (as bank notes) for users outside of europe (see registration form
  116. for other possible currencies). Inside europe the registration fee is
  117. 20DM (see registration form for other possible currencies).
  118.  
  119. English and german versions are available.
  120.  
  121. Free updates are normally available due to the keyfile concept.

  123. A registration form is supplied in this archiv (please print it with
  124. 12CPI and a left margin of 10).

  126. Information about related EGS programs
  127. --------------------------------------
  128.  
  129. If you have to work with video and framegrabbers, I recommend to take a
  130. look at EGS-TV Professional, the shareware framegrabber and video software
  131. for EGS. This shareware program (which is also developed by me) offers a
  132. comfortable usage and special effects (e.g. Blue Screen Keying) or hard
  133. disk recording and sequence editing functions. Esp. VLab and IV24 users can
  134. experience new dimensions with EGS-TV. The possibility to save pictures
  135. in JPeg format makes EGS-TV Professional the ideal partner to generate
  136. pictures for your collection and usage with EGSPhotoAlbum...
  137.  
  138. EGS-TV Professional demos should be available on places where you found
  139. EGSPhotoAlbum.
  140.  
  141. Since version 3.6 EGS-TV can also be used comfortably without a framegrabber
  142. by load functions (the same formats as EGSPhotoAlbum) and import functions.
  143. You can use EGS-TV this way as animation generation and sequence editing
  144. of blue screen keying effect software.

  146. Disclaimer
  147. ----------

  149. I tried my best to make this program error-free. It has been checked
  150. with enforcer and mungwall and works without problems on my configuration.
  151. Nevertheless, as there are so many possible configurations of Amigas and
  152. EGS-Systems/graphic boards, I can not guarantee that this software
  153. will work on your configuration. Especially the complex EGS-System
  154. does not have the desired stability in some situations. In cases
  155. where I found problems with EGS, I tried to workaround them, or
  156. explained them in this document.

  159. comes with no warranty, either expressed or implied.
  160. The author is in no way responsible for any damage or loss that may
  161. occur due to direct or indirect usage of this software. You use
  162. this software entirely at your own risk.

  175. The demo version of EGSPhotoAlbum may be freely distributed and used as
  176. long as the following conditions are met:
  177.  
  178. 1) All files have to be kept together
  179.  
  180. 2) No file may be modified or crunched/packed.
  181.  
  182.    The only official way to distribute EGSPhotoAlbum demo packed is the
  183.    original egsphotoalbum.lha archive.
  184.  
  185.    EGSPhotoAlbum may not be disassembled or analysed. The limitations
  186.    integrated in the demo version may under no circumstance be removed
  187.    or bypassed.
  188.  
  189. 3) Distributors may only charge for the duplication process (including media)
  190.    and not for the software. Theese charges may not exceed the following
  191.    limits: a) Demo on a PD-disk: 8$ (US-dollar) including
  192.               postage&packing (in Germany: 12DM)
  193.        b) Demo on a PD-CD-ROM: 50$ (US-dollar) including
  194.               postage&packing (in Germany: 75DM)
  195.        c) Demo on a BBS/Mailbox/ftp-site or other electronically
  196.               callable system: Maximum charge 4$ (US-dollar) (in Germany: 6DM)
  197.               for downloading
  198.    Anyway, it must be made explictly clear to the buyer, that he does not
  199.    pay for the program (demo) itself but only for the duplication service.

  201. 4) It is not allowed to distribute EGSPhotoAlbum with any commercial product
  202.    without a written permission by me. One exception is the distribution of
  203.    the demo version with products not exceeding the above price limits (e.g.
  204.    a cover-disk magazine for 8$ or less).

  206.    The following companies have my explicit permission to distribute the
  207.    EGSPhotoAlbum demo with their products: NOVA Design, Ingenieurbüro Helfrich.

  209.    If you want to distribute EGSPhotoAlbum demo with your commercial product
  210.    (hardware or software) write to me for details.

  212. 5) The registered version may not be redistributed. It may only run on one
  213.    machine per registration. It is allowed to make a backup copy of the
  214.    original disk.
