  1. DiskValid For AFS
  2. -----------------

  4. DiskValid checks an AFS partition to see if it is Valid (i.e. it has not been
  5. corrupted or damaged in any way).
  6.  
  7. You will find the validity checker in the tools directory on your AFS
  8. original disk.
  9.  
  10. Useage:-
  11.  
  12. DiskValid VOLUME: [VERBOSE] [FIX]
  13.  
  14. It does produce a lot of output - which, to speed up the checking, should be
  15. piped to a file.
  16.  
  17. If the fix option is set then DiskValid will attempt to repair any errors on 
  18. the partition.
  19.  
  20. Warning - Always make a backup before attempting to fix a partition with
  21.           diskvalid.
  22.  
  23. Currently only the bitmaps can be fixed by DiskValid.

  25. N.B. You may notice that DiskValid reports a number of blocks in the reserved 
  26. area which are allocated but not used. This is due to a slight problem in AFS
  27. which has been fixed, and will be included in the next release. This does not
  28. cause any real problems, but the disk can be fixed using the FIX option in
  29. any case.
