- presents: DiskScanner v2.0
- ·
-
- INTRODUCTION:
- I know you have problems with drugs. I know you have problems with your
- sister, and I know you have too many unlabelled disks lying all over the
- place, and you don't know what's on them. I can't help you with the two
- first problems, but I certainly can help you with the latter problem. So I
- welcome you to the wonderfull world of DISKSCANNER v2.0.
-
- DISKSCANNER (DSC) is an utility that creates a single ASCII-file from the
- directories of your disks. All you have to do is insert disks and let the
- program take care of the rest. Just load the program and see that actually
- it's very useful...
-
- REQUIREMENTS:
- DSC has been succesfully tested on A500, A500+, A1200 and A4000. It doesn't
- require KS1.3, but it runs a bit slower with it. At least one megabyte of
- memory is needed(for cache and variables).
-
- DOCUMENTATION:
- When the program has survived few read/write errors you should see a
- menupanel. Now there is everything in front of your eyes. I will explain
- all of it step by step. 'ere we go!

- *** ADD DISK -> BUFFER: ***
- This is where all the action happens. This is the button you use to read
- disks into memory. There are also two arrows. By clicking them you can
- roll through your DEVICE list. If you don't find a specific device from
- here, click on the current devicename to assign your own device. First you
- will have to to enter the DEVICE name(HD0: HD1: DF1: etc.). Remember to
- put ":" after your device. Then you can enter the destination name. You
- can enter either a device, or a directory here.
- EXAMPLE: Source= TMP: Destination= DH0:tempfiles/
-
- Hotkey=A
-
- *** SAVE BUFFER ***
- Click here to save your bufferfile. Just enter a filename with it's
- destination directory (ram:my_files.txt) or just a filename. By writing
- only filename you are able to save the filelist directly on a disk. An
- ".nfo" file will be saved too. Do not delete this as it contains
- information about your work.
-
- Hotkey=S
-
- *** LOAD BUFFER ***
- Click here to load a previously saved textfile. You are now able to
- continue your work. NOTE: disks, files and dirs are read from a file
- ending ".nfo" so it must be present!
-
- Hotkey=L
-
- *** CLEAR BUFFER ***
- Click here to clear all previously created data.
-
- Hotkey=C
-
- *** SHOW DURING SCAN ***
- With this option you can turn the directory viewing ON and OFF. The default
- is OFF as it's more faster and clearer to use. By turning it ON again you
- will be able to see what you are writing to your bufferfile.
-
- *** BUFFER ***
- Click here to scroll through your whole buffer. Press any key to pause the
- viewing and again any key to continue.
-
- Hotkey=B
-
- *** SHOW DIRECTORY ***
- Click here to check the diskdirectory if you aren't sure what you are
- buffering at. 'Space' to abort.
-
- Hotkey=D
-
- *** ABOUT ***
- Click here to see the credits plus some information about your current work.
- You will be able to see how many disks , files and directories you have
- scanned.
-
- *** QUIT ***
- Click here to get rid of the program.
-
- *** HINTS ***
- - Use hotkeys. It's very fast to scan all your disk when you just have to
- insert a disk and press 'A'.
- - Don't use SHOW WHILE SCAN-option as it's only waste of time.
