  17.     Fred Fish's first CD-ROM disc, "Fresh Fish, October 1993", is a
  18. fantastic resource for any Amiga owner, especially programmers and
  19. knowledgable users.  This disc is a pleasure to use and was obviously put
  20. together by someone with a strong knowledge of not only the Amiga, but also
  21. freeware in general.

  23.     Unlike many other Amiga CD-ROM discs containing freeware, this disc
  24. contains software that is ready to run and well organized, instead of
  25. archived and/or organized by floppy disk number.  Here is just a sampling of
  26. the major software on the disc:

  28.         GNU Emacs
  29.         The GNU C++ compiler
  30.         The Amiga "E" compiler
  31.         PasTeX
  32.         Commodore's AmigaGuide and Installer
  33.         Commodore's AmigaDOS 2.04 and 3.0 "include" files
  34.         Anders Bjerin's famous "CManual" Amiga programming tutorial
  35.         lha, lharc, lhwarp, warp, dms, gzip, and other archivers
  36.         BTNTape tape driver
  37.         AmiCDROM CD-ROM filesystem
  38.         A few dozen GNU and BSD UNIX tools, ported to the Amiga
  39.         Fish Disks 600-930

  41.     But this disc is more than just a bunch of software thrown together.
  42. Real thought went into what is included here.  For example, PasTeX (a
  43. port of the TeX typesetting system) comes not only with many fonts and
  44. macro packages, but also Michael Doob's famous "Gentle Introduction To
  45. TeX", Geoffrey Tobin's "Metafont for Beginners", extra DVI printer
  46. drivers, dvips, BibTeX, and Fig.  Nice!!!

  48.     Make sure you read the README-FIRST file on the disc.  If you don't,
  49. then you won't learn about the script file you need to execute to set up
  50. everything for use.

  52.     I recommend this disc highly.  If this is any indication of
  53. future discs, I recommend them highly too.
