so that for the first time she could see his face.  His face was as rough as

    The man pulled Laurie by the hair and forced her down into a kitchen chair.

Laurie was frozen with terror. Why? What? Who? Questions spun through her
pretty head.  What was going on?  She watched numbly as her mom got to her
hands and knees, shaking her head to clear it.  A trickle of blood ran down
