  8.    in newsgroups such as this, and for allowing young children
  9.    to grow up well-adjusted and in no need of perusing such filth)

  16.      I have been quietly observing the long, drawn-out discussions
  17. in this and other newsgroups over the first amendment, "kiddie-
  18. porn," and other issues related to obscenity and pornography, and
  19. its effects on our society and on our children.  I am sickened by
  20. many of the "stories" posted here, as well as the pedophile
  21. "pictures" posted in the "erotic" pictures newsgroups.  I recognize
  22. that free-speech is important, but make no mistake about it: many
  23. of the things "posted" here are truly obscene, and do not have any
  24. claim to be protected speech as guaranteed by our constitution. 
  25. They have absolutely no redeeming social value whatsoever.  Most
  26. decent Americans would readily agree.  That is a fact.  
  27.  
  28.      Ask yourself this:  would you want YOUR daughter or son
  29. reading this filth?  Your grandmother?  Of course not.  Your
  30. arguments about "free speech" are mere rationalizations for
  31. behaviors that you know in your heart are shameful and wrong.

  33.      Unfortunately, pornography has become accepted because of a
  34. series of erroneous Supreme Court decisions, which have
  35. misinterpreted the first amendment and our Founder's intentions. 
  36. In light of this fact, those of us (the majority of Americans) who
  37. would like to see something seriously done about this problem, and
  38. who are not merely idealistic must, if we are practical, deal with
  39. the *need* for pornography among those of you who read these
  40. stories or look at obscene pictures, rather than attempt to
  41. legislate anti-pornography laws in a country whose federal judges
  42. are almost universally "liberal" with regard to important matters
  43. such as Our Savior Jesus Christ, and morality.  Think of it this
  44. way:  rather than attempt to get rid of drugs, which probably will
  45. never happen, it is better to attempt to get rid of the
  46. social\psychological\physiological *need* for them.  I am applying
  47. this analogy to the pornography problem here on the internet.  
  48.  
  49.     My proposal is simple and easily implemented.  It avoids many
  50. of the pitfalls facing those who have tried (and thus far failed)
  51. to restrict the access people have to obscene material. 
  52.  
  53.      If we view the need for pornographic and obscene materials as
  54. a *disease* that requires treatment, we avoid stigmatizing
  55. individuals.  This would open the way for proper treatment and
  56. counseling.
  57.  
  58.      The remedy I propose may seem extreme, even radical, but the
  59. alternatives are a continuation of moral decadence, and increasing
  60. incidence of rape, sexual abuse, and pedophilia which, I think we
  61. can all agree, are a direct result of the widespread dissemination
  62. of pornographic materials among adults.
  63.  
  64. THE PROPOSAL:  I propose that young children be exposed to graphic
  65. and obscene pictures and stories from a very young age, say the
  66. third or fourth grade (I have no desire to argue over small
  67. details; the exact developmental stage would probably be best
  68. decided by professional child psychologists who, I suspect, would
  69. probably argue for even earlier indoctrination into things such as
  70. mutual masturbation, etc.).  They should also be encouraged and
  71. required to engage in oral and anal sex, as well as more
  72. conventional forms of copulation (under HIGHLY SUPERVISED
  73. conditions, preferably in a public school forum) with their peers,
  74. as well as with adults who have been professionally trained.  
  75.  
  76.      The primary objection I foresee to this proposal would be to
  77. my use of the public schools to facilitate sexual contact among
  78. minors, since many people of differing religious denominations
  79. would probably prefer that sexual contact between small children
  80. and adults be closely supervised by a priest, rabbi or minister,
  81. rather than some bureaucrat in the public school hierarchy.  This
  82. is understandable, and I suspect accommodations could be made along
  83. these lines.  I, for one, would prefer that my Pastor oversee any
  84. attempts at carnal knowledge of MY children.

  86.      In this way, sexuality and obscene materials would come to be
  87. associated with Jesus Christ and with the church, as well as other
  88. forms of organized social institutions and would, therefore,
  89. contribute to the healthy spiritual and psychological maturation of
  90. children in our society.  They would no longer yearn for
  91. "pornography" and other filth, for they would be saturated from an
  92. early age and would already have been "violated" in a physical
  93. sense.

  95.      I hope my modest proposal will be taken seriously in what has
  96. heretofore been a debate lacking in rigorous thought and critical
  97. evaluation, and that it will stimulate a healthy dialogue.  It is
  98. time we make the hard choices and, with the help of all of you, my
  99. proposal could become reality in the very near future!
