  2. Black Bart showed how to start a conference call thru an 800 exchange, and
  3. I will now explain how to start a conference call in a more orthodox fashion,
  4. the 2600 Hz tone.  First, the fone company has what is called switching
  5. systems.  There are several types, but the one we will concern ourselves with,
  6. is ESS (Electronic Switching System).  If your area is zoned for ESS, do not
  7. start a conference call via the 2600 Hz tone, or bell security will nail your
  8. ass! To find out if you are under ESS, call your local business office, and ask
  9. them if you can get call waiting/forwarding, and if you can, that means that
  10. you are in esscountry, and conference calling is very, very dangerous!!! Now,
  11. if you are not in ESS, you will need the following equipment: An Apple Cat II
  12. modem, a copy of TSPS 2 or Cat's MEOW 2, a touch tone fone line, and a touch
  13. tone fone. (True tone) Now, with TSPS 2, do the following: Run TSPS 2, chose
  14. option 1, chose option 6, chose sub-option 9. Now type: 1-514-555-1212 (Dashes
  15. are not needed) Listen with your handset, and as soon as you hear a loud
  16. 'clickobnoxious tone will continue for a few seconds, then listen again and you
  17. should hear another loud 'Click'.  Now type:  km2130801050s where 'k'=kp tone,
  18. 'm'=multi frequency mode, 's'=s tone. Now listen to the handset again, and wait
  19. until you hear the 'Click' again. Then type: km2139752975s where 2139751975 is
  20. the number to bill the conference call to. Note: 213-975-1975 is a disconnected
  21. number, and I strongly advise that you only bill the call to this number, or
  22. the fone company will find out, and then... Remeber, conference calls are
  23. itemized, so if you do bill it to an enemy's number, he can easily find out who
  24. did it, and he can bust you! You should now hear 3 beeps, and a short pre-
  25. recorded message. From here on, everything is all menu driven.

  27. Conference call commands:

  29. from the '#' mode:  
  30. 1=Call a number 
  31. 6=Transfer control
  32. 7=Hangs up the conference call
  33. 9=Will call a conference operator.
  34. Stay away from 7 and 9! If for some fucked up reason an operator gets on-line,
  35. HANG UP! Oh yeah, I almost forgot. If anyone needs a copy of Cat's MEOW or
  36. TSPS 2, I can diskfer it to ya. and if you want to try, I can record the con-
  37. ference tones on a high bias tape, and you can play them directly thru the
  38. fone,that will also work (For people that dont have Apple Cats!). If you get a
  39. busy signal after km2130801050s, that means that the teleconferencing line is
  40. temporarily down. Try later, preferrably from 9 AM to 5 PM weekdays, since
  41. conference calls are pri-marily designed for business people.
