- This game was written and produced by Team 17 about 2 years ago. It's
-
- now been released on budget and I thought that I might review it
-
- ( read: I couldn't think of anything to write so I did this instead ).
-
-
- The game comes on 4 disks, which is quite big for a platform game.
-
- You don't do much disk swapping, as the disks contain a few worlds of
-
- the game each. The only time you really have to swap disks is when you
-
- complete a level ( not often for me ).
-
-
-
- The game is a platformer ( surprisingly ) and as it's from Team 17,
-
- you can always expect it to be good. Unfortunately, this game does not fall
- #2More>>>@5
- into this category, instead it falls into the category of #3AMAZING@5. It
-
- starts with a very cool intro if you load up with disk 3. This involves
-
- the tragic story of a couple in love, separated by the usual " evil witch
-
- kidnaps helpless princess and turns prince into a frog " story. This oft
-
- told folklore has a rather different twist to it however. Instead of
-
- sulking off to some river-bank in despair, our hapless hero spies a bottle
-
- floating down the river. Is it some magic potion to turn him back into a
-
- human? Or is it a potion of strength and wisdom?........No......It's a
-
- bottle of Lucozade. Yes, with a 'small' piece of advertising, Team 17 have
-
- included the best-selling energy drink in the world.........Hmmmmmm.
-
-
-
- The game itself is very good indeed. #7More>>>@5
-
- The graphics are superb ( on a monitor they're even better ),
-
- (obviously-Ed.)
-
- and the music has to be heard to be believed
-
- i.e it's pretty good. The tunes send your feet tapping straight away, with
-
- samples of frogs croaking along for good measure. The graphics are suitably
-
- cartoony, and suit the game tremendously. The enemies are very cute, so
-
- cute in fact that they are hard to kill without sobbing in sorrow ( but
-
- not very hard, it's a case of, if you don't kill them, they throw you up
-
- in the air and make you vanish in a puff of smoke and a collection of
-
- stars ). The whole game consists of you playing through a number of worlds
-
- in order to defeat the evil ( cackle ) witch, and saving your one true love
-
- ( apart from that rather nice bar-maid down at the Duke's Head...... ).

-
- The worlds are named such original names like ' Wood World ', ' Ice
-
- World ', and other things like that. Since I'm only good enough to get
-
- passed the first 2 levels of the first world, I can only tell you about the
-
- Wood World. This level contains such Baddies as Snails ( OOOOoooooo Er )
-
- Hedgehogs ( Oooohhhhh Noooooo ! ), little blobby creatures, and wasps.
-
- None of these creatures are particularly deadly, since all you have to do
-
- is jump on their heads ( like the nasty people that you are ). The whole
-
- idea of the individual levels is to find the exit. But on the last level
-
- of each world, you have to find the ' secret ' key or item that will
-
- unlock the End-Of-World Gate/Door/Passageway etc. This is generally of
-
- the " run around the entire level until you can find the bastard thing "
- #7More>>>@5
- genre, and can piss you off slightly ( but not much ).
-
-
-
- In each level, you collect coins, power-ups, and bonuses, which can
-
- each do different things. One ' power-up ' makes you completely invisible,
-
- apart from your eyes. This can make things a bit difficult, and you end up
-
- generally trying to give this one a bit of a miss. After completing each
-
- level, the computer adds up all the coins you've collected, and decides
-
- how many " credits " you've earned. You then get the chance to either
-
- ' gamble ' them, or collect them. If you choose to gamble them, then a
-
- fruit-machine is loaded, and you basically play this machine. You can
-
- win points, credits, lives, level-codes and other stuff, but I think this
-
- is worth a mention because it's simply a great idea, and adds a little
- #7More>>>@5
- extra fun to the proceedings, which is no bad thing.
-
-
-
- Graphics : 95% ( 'cause they're cartoony and good )
-
- Sounds : 90% ( 'cause they're good and froggy as well )
-
- Playability: 91% ( 'cause it's a good game and stuff )
-
- Lastability: 93% ( you'll keep coming back for more )
-
- Overall : 92% ( It's very very very good )
