  6. I have seen MANY articles on swapping,
  7. and  this  should be the last one that
  8. "seals up the coffin" on this subject.
  9. If  you  want  to argue against what I
  10. said(and  please  do!),  then write to
  11. this mag!

  13. The main reason people are looking for
  14. swappers  is  to get new stuff.  Yeah,
  15. friendship  and  longish  letters  may
  16. also  help, but, admit it, we all want
  17. the  newest  wares!   The  problem  is
  18. though,  we  all relie on one or maybe
  19. two  contacts  who give you the latest
  20. stuff,   and  all  the  rest  of  your
  21. contacts  give  you oldish stuff.  The
  22. problem is(and in the past I have been
  23.

  28. effected) the popularity of your group
  29. usually  suggusts  to  other swappers,
  30. what  sort of new stuff you get.  Take
  31. for  example Perception.  The group is
  32. relatively  unknown,  but we have some
  33. amazing  swappers!(FX,  Cage, Dynamite
  34. etc)   Who  get  all  the  new  stuff.
  35. Preconceived   notions   of  PCT  have
  36. already  been  made,  because  we  are
  37. quite  unknown, thus are swappers, GFX
  38. artists,  musicians  and coders aren't
  39. really given a chance!

  41. Also  I  have  read many an article on
  42. disk   thieves.    Disk   thieves  are
  43. usually those who are Elite.  You know
  44. the  ones  who  have 70+ contacts, and
  45. {te{E{<don't  bat  an  eyelid at beginers, or
  46. those  in  an  unknown group.  I would
  47. agree  that  if  you are a beginer you
  48. shouldn't really write unless you have
  49. anything  to offer, there's no need to
  50. waste  peoples  time!   I've also seen
  51. beginers  who  send  1990  PD to their
  52. contacts,  and  then  wonder  why they
  53. haven't  replied!  Also people may not
  54. know  this,  but  post  does  get lost
  55. sometimes!   Or  a  address is mislade
  56. etc,  so  actually  the people you are
  57. branding  as disk thieves may not even
  58. be!

  60. I   have  heard  of  some  people  who
  61. advertise in VI/GV, get inundated with
  62. loads  of  mail  and  can't  afford to
  63. write  back...then why did they bother
  64. asking   for  contacts  in  the  first
  65. place!!(Return postage helps though!)

  67. To  round this off.  Swapping is a bit
  68. dodgy, becuase you always have a 50/50
  69. chance  of  getting  a reply!  I would
  70. recommend  people  to  write  to  well
  71. known PD companies for a cool contact,
  72. or  to  take  a  chance  and  write to
  73. someone  from  this mag!!(Hint, hint!)
  74. Take a ganders at my IFF and ASCII ads
  75. in this mag!
