  18. c09Blinded  by  the  light,  I  sit.  The
  19. microphone  uncomfortably  tied  to my
  20. chest  reminds  me  of a dead old bug,
  21. starved  for  boredom.   Any  eventual
  22. attempt  to just wipe it away stranded
  23. under  the  stern  looks of the camera
  24. assistance.   Is this the way TV-stars
  25. feel?

  27. One  camera  directly  pointing at me,
  28. the  other one dances around me, moved
  29. by    the    virtous    hands   of   a
  30. professional.   Zooming  in.  Swirring
  31. away.  Close up.  Back again.

  33. Two  interviewees  press  out  answers
  34. from  me.  Questions like machineguns.
  35. Where  did  the Scene come from?  What
  36. meaning has the internet to the Scene?
  37. Why copyparties?
  38.  
  39. I   stutter  my  answers.   Irritated.
  40. Nervously.
  41.  
  42. Why  do  Sceners  waste  their time by
  43. doing   uncommercial   programs?   Ah,
  44. finally  one  for  me to set the Scene
  45. into   the  right  spot.
  46. f4'There are groups producing games like
  47. The Silents with their Pinball-series,
  48. leading   to   the   actual   pinball-
  49. game-mania.'  f1An  eyebrow  flickers up
  50. for  the  friction  of  a second.  The
  51. producer  is not convinced.  f4'Infect,'
  52. f1I  hurry  to  tell,  f4'is just about to
  53. release  a  program for the commercial
  54. sector.  It is a... an...' f1(givemethe-
  55. wordgivemetheword) f4'An...' f1Sweat pours
  56. from  my  cheeks. f4'A  new videoeffect-
  57. processor!'

  61. linking,  it was.  I imagine thousands
  62. of  Sceners  roaring out in scornfully
  63. laughter.    They   will  point  their
  64. fingers  at me.  I am Scenically dead.
  65. Slowly  I fade away, dropping from the
  66. chair, ripping off the microphone from
  67. my chest, leading into a buzzing noice
  68. that  kills the ear of the tonemaster,
  69. who  -  with  an outcry - jumps out of
  70. his  kneeling  position,  hitting  the
  71. cameraman.   He  looses his camera, it
  72. crashes  to  the  ground,  splintering
  73. into  a  heap  of  broken  lenses  and
  74. wrecked   microchips.    The  director
  75. rages.     The    kettle   of   tumult
  76. escalates.   I run through dark narrow
  77. corridors,  the lenchmop direct behind
  78. me.
  79. They  get  me!   Left,  no  right!   A
  80. oneway.   Slowly,  the  net is closing
  81. in.
  82.  
  83. Then  they  are over me.  The director
  84. takes me by the shirt and...
  85.  
  86. f4'It's  really nice if at least someone
  87. can articluate himself in front of the
  88. camera  about  the Scene.  Most of the
  89. people  were  talking alot, but didn't
  90. tell much.'

  92. f1Slowly  I realise it was just a dream.
  93. Just  a  hallucination.   I  am  still
  94. sitting  here.   The camera assistance
  95. grins  at  me, the second cameraman is
  96. just  taking  another  close up on the
  97. button  at my chest, telling who I am:
  98. RokDaZone   of  Artwork.
  99. Later  this  year,  this  shot will be
  100. broadcasted   to   millions  of  homes
  101. Europewide.   On  the c07th of Novembre
  102. 1996c09 to be exact.  At c07:30 PM c09to tell
  103. the truth.

  107. c08     WHY A REPORT ABOUT THE SCENE
  108.  
  109. c09What  you will be able to watch on the
  110. 19th  Novembre  is  not  going to be a
  111. report about the Scene exclusivly, but
  112. a   reportage   about   the  Internet.
  113. c07Martin    Missonierc09,   the   director,
  114. explains  that  he  and  his team were
  115. invited   by  the  organisers  of  The
  116. Summer  Party  to  have  a look on our
  117. f2'subculture'f1.   Missonnier was totally
  118. amazed  by  the  ongoings at the event
  119. and   never   was   too  lazy  to  ask
  120. thousands  of  questions  to  find out
  121. more  about our obsession, always with
  122. a  camera  at  hand.   Especially  the
  123. preview  of  c07Dataworld  2 c09from c07Infectc09,
  124. c07Artworks The Gate c09and c07Phi c09but also the
  125. releases  from  the  French  coderesse
  126. c07Clary/Drifters c09found much attention by
  127. the Parisien.  Clary complains:  f4'They
  128. filmed  me  while  talking  to others,
  129. while  going  around, while computing.
  130. Even  when  we  delivered our demo for
  131. the  competition,  a rott of cameramen
  132. were  behind  us.'  f1Still not only her
  133. had    to   'suffer',   also   myself,
  134. c07Eksec/Infect  c09and  others  were filmed
  135. and interviewed.  c08f4'It's unbelievable!'
  136. c09f1this  were the words one heard most of
  137. the  time  from Missonnier, who at the
  138. time c07Generation c09gets released is still
  139. busy with editing.

  142. c08       WHAT WILL WE GET TO SEE
  143.  
  144. c09Even  though  huge  part of the report
  145. will  focus  on  the  Internet,  I can
  146. nothing  but  recommend  to watch this
  147. telecast to any Scener.  For the first
  148. time ever we will get nothing but good
  149. criticism  and  various  Sceners  will
  150. probably  be  shown, trying to explain
  151. what  is going on.  Even if in the end
  152. only five minutes should deal with the
  153. Scene, the report might be interesting
  154. for  us.   Martin  wrote in a personal
  155. e-mail  to  me after the party that he
  156. went to the USA to talk to some of the
  157. real   Internet   legends.   After  he
  158. returned, he told me quite a lot about
  159. it  which  I  know will ot reveal only
  160. that much:  f4'It was unbelievable!'
