  9. This is a release of the Version 1.0 USB driver for the Broadxent Cable Modem 8601.

  20. Installation:
  21. -------------
  22. Installing the NDIS5 Miniport driver on Microsoft Windows 98(SE) or ME or 2000 or XP
  23.  
  24. 1. Power down your PC.
  25. 2. Plug USB cable into the modem and into one of the computer USB ports.
  26. 3. Plug in the modem power adapter and make sure that the modem POWER indicator is lit.
  27. 4. Turn the computer power ON to start Windows.
  28. 5. Connect the active RF coaxial cable to the CABLE IN connector on the cable modem. 
  29. 5. When Windows prompts with "USB Composite Device" in the
  30.    "New Hardware Found" dialog box, click the "Next" button.
  31. 6. Select "Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended)"
  32.    from the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, then click the
  33.    "Next" button.
  34. 7. Insert the CD in your CD ROM: of your PC.
  35. 8. Select "Specify a location" and type Path "CD ROM:\" in the
  36.    "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, then click the "Next" button.
  37. 9. Click the "Next" button in the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box.
  38. 10. Windows will prompt with "USB Cable Modem Adapter"
  39.     in the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box.
  40. 11. Click the "Next" button in the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box.
  41.     Windows will copy the driver (Bxntndis.sys) from CD ROM:\
  42.     to the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory and the BXNTNDIS.inf file from CD ROM:\
  43.     to the C:\WINDOWS\INF\OTHER directory.
  44. 12. When Windows prompts with "USB Cable Modem Adapter"
  45.     in the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, click the "Finish" button.
  46. 13. Remove the USB CD from your CD ROM.
  47. 14. Restart your computer to initialize the network function.

  51. Uninstalling the NDIS5 Miniport driver on Microsoft Windows 98/98SE/ME/2000/XP

  53. 1. Unplug USB cable from USB port on computer or cable modem.
  54. 2. Click " Start " button, then " Settings ", then click " Control Panel ".
  55. 3. Select " Add/Remove Programs " in Control Panel, then under " Install/Uninstall " tab,
  56.    select 'USB Cable Modem Adapter' for uninstallation.

  60. Specification (NDIS) 5.0, and is used with Microsoft Windows 98/98SE/ME,
