- In Windows, programs are
- represented as icons, little
- pictures. Highlight the title
- under an icon, by using the arrow
- keys. If the icon you want is in a
- different window, hold the [Alt]
- key and press [W]. This opens the
- Window menu, and you can activate a
- different window from the list. To
- start the highlighted program,
- press the [Enter] key.
- Almost all programs run in
- Windows. Only one window can be
- active at a time, but many can
- appear on the screen simultaneously.
- To activate a different window, hold
- the [Alt] key while pressing the
- [Esc] or the [Tab] key.
- These windows have several
- control features which are the same
- from one program to another. In
- the upper left corner is a "System
- Menu." To open this menu hold

- [Alt] and press the spacebar.
- Within the menu are functions to
- change the size and shape of a
- window, end the current program,
- or switch to another.
- To select an item from a menu,
- press the letter of the menu item
- which is underlined.
- Some menu items are may be shown
- in gray, others are black. Gray
- means that the item is not
- currently available. If you select
- an unavailable item, nothing will
- happen.
- The most important functions in
- the System Menu are:

- MOVE - When selected, a four-headed
- arrow appears, Move it with the
- arrow keys. When done press
- [Enter] and the window will
- reappear at the new location.
