  1.                         POKER PATIENCE
  2.                       ------------------

  4.    Poker Patience package contains these four files:
  5.  
  6.        pp.exe       - program file for MS Windows
  7.        info.exe     - says which version this package is
  8.        orderfrm.txt - form to order full version
  9.        readme.txt   - this file
  10.  
  11.    The object of Poker Patience is to score as many points
  12. as possible by creating poker combinations from cards
  13. consecutively put forward by computer. The cards are placed into
  14. rectangular area with five columns and five rows. Once placed
  15. card cannot be put forward once more.
  16.  
  17.    The first card you can place anywhere you like, but all
  18. the next cards must touch at least by corner some card already
  19. placed. Poinst are counted in both rows and columns.
  20.  
  21.    You can choose from two kinds of game - normal or extended.
  22. Normal game ends after showing all the 25 cards down. Extended
  23. game consists of three parts. The first part is identical
  24. as normal game. Purpose of the second part is to perform a number
  25. of exchanges between any two cards each other to gain more
  26. points. In the third part you can exchange any two cards each
  27. other as in second part, but in addition you can use the cards
  28. appeared in the sixth column. That column isn't valued, but it
  29. can help you to gain even more points. You should perform as few
  30. steps as possible to realize the desired modification of cards
  31. layout because every exchange brings you one negative point.

  33.    Maximum number of exchanges in each part of the extended game
  34. is twenty. Total score is a sum of points gained in each of three
  35. parts reduced by a total number of exchanges. The high scores
  36. table contains the best 300 scores. When equality of points
  37. occures, the shorter time decides which score is better.

  39.    The time of normal game is limited at twenty minutes, the time
  40. of extended one at sixty minutes. But there is no reason to be
  41. in a hurry. Those limits are a great deal higher than time needed
  42. to complete the game.

  44.    Values of each combination are as follows:

  46. Royal Flush (A,K,Q,J,10 of the same suit)                      50
  47. Straight Flush (five cards of the same suit in sequence)       30
  48. Four of a kind (four cards of the same rank)                   16
  49. Straight (five cards in two or more suits in sequence)         12
  50. Full house (three cards of one rank and two cards of another)  10
  51. Three of a kind (three cards of the same rank)                  6
  52. Flush (five cards of the same suit)                             5
  53. Two pairs (two cards of one rank and two cards of another)      3
  54. One pair (any single pair of one rank)                          1

  56.    Using this game is simple. Desired type of game starts
  57. by click the main menu items "Normal game" or "Extended game".
  58. Click the part of the game board causes placing the card, that
  59. appears at the bottom in the middle part of the game window.
  60. The end of normal game becomes immediately after placing the last,
  61. 25th card.

  63.    In the extended game, after placing the last card begins
  64. the second part. Exchange between two cards can be done by
  65. the clicks both the cards. The first click marks the first card.
  66. The second click the second card performs the desired exchange.
  67. If you mistake, you can remove the marking by another click
  68. the first marked card. The button "2->3->" appeared under
  69. the place where the new cards are shown, serves for finishing
  70. the second and third part of the extended game.

  72.    Shareware version of Poker Patience doesn't include
  73. the extended game and instead of 300 best scores handles only
  74. three. You can freely copy it, put it on your favourite
  75. BBS's etc. You must only observe following rules:

  77.    1) Only whole Poker Patience package can be distributed.
  78.       Poker Patience package consists of these files:
  79.       "pp.exe", "orderfrm.txt", "readme.txt" and "info.txt".

  81.    2) Any modifications of those files are prohibited.

  84. version of Poker Patience with the extended game, send the

  98.    Then you will get from me 5.25'' diskette with the
  99. last, full version of Poker Patience, licence card and many
  100. thanx for supporting shareware concept. As premium you will
  101. receive another Windows game, this once from category of logic.

  103.    Its name is HEAPS and has very simple rules: On the board
  104. are four heaps of matches. Player on the move chooses one heap
  105. he likes, which he takes any number of matches from
  106. (at least one). Who takes the last match, lose. Your goal is to
  107. beat the computer. Initial number of matches in the heaps is
  108. random and less then nineteen.
  109.  
  110.    Graphic design of Heaps is in a similar style as Poker
  111. Patience. Difficulty of the game has four levels. On the highest,
  112. "Ingenious" level, you can win only if you make no bad move.
  113. However, initial position always allows you to win.
