  66. |  * Make a directory, e.g. C:\NETRIS  |
  67. |    (use DOS or File Manager)         |
  68. |  * Copy all the Netris files into    |
  69. |    it, including any optional extras |
  70. |    like sound effects                |
  71. |  * Copy the netris.ini file that's   |
  72. |    supplied into the C:\WINDOWS      |
  73. |    directory                         |
  74. |  * From Program Manager, choose      |
  75. |    File/New, Program Item, then      |
  76. |    choose Browse and find netris.exe |
  77. |    in C:\NETRIS, then click OK.      |

  79. |  * If this program is on a CD-ROM    |
  80. |    disk, you can run it direct as    |
  81. |    long as all the files are in the  |
  82. |    same directory, but you will      |
  83. |    still need to copy the .INI or    |

  104. |  If you use one of these, Netris     |
  105. |  will not work correctly. I think    |
  106. |  it will run but fail to palettize   |
  107. |  the 256-colour graphics properly    |
  108. |  (they will be the wrong colours).   |
  109. |  If so, you should use the Graphics  |
  110. |  dialog box to change all background |
  111. |  file names to blanks or nonexistant |
  112. |  files, and make do with background  |
  113. |  colour only.                        |

  115. |  The initial screen (with the play   |
  116. |  button) may not display its         |
  117. |  background: to see what the buttons |
  118. |  do, use the help file, selecting    |
  119. |  the `main screen' topic, to get a   |
  120. |  picture of this screen.             |

  125. |  I'm sorry about this, but I have    |
  126. |  only very occasional access to a    |
  127. |  machine with >256 colours, so I     |
  128. |  had to code both 24-bit and         |
  129. |  HiColor blind. 24-bit seems to      |
  130. |  work - HiColor doesn't. My          |
  131. |  apologies to those of you affected. |

  139. |  Common dialog boxes are displayed   |
  140. |  so you can browse for graphics,     |
  141. |  sound, and music files. When you    |
  142. |  have chosen your file, do not       |
  143. |  double-click it to close the dialog |
  144. |  as this will result in the dialog   |
  145. |  staying visible and looking messy.  |
  146. |  Instead, click it once to select it |
  147. |  and then use the OK button. (This   |
  148. |  is an irritating bug; sorry).       |

  150. |  If you forget this, it doesn't      |
  151. |  actually matter, but screen display |
  152. |  may be ugly as the dialog doesn't   |
  153. |  clear itself                        |
