  21. It is such small request for so much features, and I know you'll like the 
  22. special sound effects you hear in this game. All orders are process fast,

  39. U.F.O Tracker  v1.0 Vol.14   (((wave sound))))
  40.  
  41. This is an  Arcade SpaceCraft Simulator using real human voice as a computer
  42. saying Red Alert and tracking U.F.O's. Sound effects of moving U.F.Os coming
  43. at your SpaceCraft. Your at the edge of space orbiting the moon while on
  44. patrol you see many U.F.Os coming at you. You view the U.F.Os in a 3D 5 
  45. sided display windows while you see your SpaceCraft controls in a 3D view in
  46. front of you.

  48. This is a bit different  than Tank Tracker, when in this game the double 
  49. dual scoring in right inside your 3D control  panel. Your mouse will become
  50. your photon target sight aimer Fire your weapons on the incoming 3D U.F.O
  51. targets with your real photon blaster sound.

  53. Eye-catching special effects, 3D Earth in the background, and full scale
  54. moon below you while you play this sim. Note you view a different object in
  55. each 5 views.

  62. Under any of my Tracker games you get to hear and extra sound effect to 
  63. simulate actual push button or computer aided sounds effects.

  65. Every menu item above as this effect during and after the game as well!
  66. Options is now replaced by Speed which is your main Control Center which 
  67. will only control Speed and Timer. Note Under this ShareWare version you 
  68. can't access Speed, but you'll be told this when you click on Speed.

  70. The Quick Menu layout is change where the Play Pause Stop are in the right
  71. postion.

  73. Fast game play access with your mouse, no more going through pull down Game
  74. menu drop access to start the game. Just click on Play to play the game 
  75. right now or Pause the game if you got a phone call or etc..

  77. The word Continue will appear when you click on Pause then click on Continue
  78. to play on! Reset the game anytime you want during a game or even on pause 
  79. by hitting Play again to start a new game! Stop the game now and bring up 
  80. the introduction screen for a full game restart. This will happen anyway 
  81. when your game is over then click on play again to start.

  83. Also when you do a full Exit out while playing a game whenever you want 
  84. instead of double clicking on the left bar. This comes in handy if your 
  85. boss is coming near your work area! For each time you use any of the above
  86. menu  items you'll hear wave sound effects just like you hear from Windows. 
  87. Includes female voice greetings on Play, Stop, GameOver and Exit.

  93. Note: Under this ShareWare version Speed is disable and game
  94. play is set by the Author. When you register this copy Options will 
  95. be enable for you to change speed, target count, time!
  96. This is why your strongly encourage to mail in your registered
  97. fee to the author.

  99. When you see this label Wave System Sound, is available only if you have 
  100. either of the following;  Sound Card or Board installed or Speaker.drv to 
  101. play the wave sound through your build in Pc speaker. Sound Card option is 
  102. better, since you can play the wave sound through you mini amp spks or 
  103. through your home stereo unit.

  105. Note: Click on any main menu item from Options thru Help and you will hear
  106. wave sounds also.  Now you'll also get real female voice announcement when
  107. you click on Exit, Play, Stop and when the Game is Over that will be address
  108. to you.

  110. Since this game is a ShareWare Copy and is only for evaluation purposes only
  111. OPTIONS is not available, and I already setup the game time to 1 minute and
  112. 45 seconds and speed is just set to slow and the number of open targets is 
  113. low.

  115. This will give you a good idea how the game is played plus why you need to 
  116. send in your Register fee of only $5.25 plus .52 cents for shipping/ 
  117. handling.

  119. Under the registered version target windows are set to the max, game speed
  120. is normal an game time is set to 5 minutes, but can be lowered by you using
  121. the Speed & Timer Control Center. You also get higher scoring than the 
  122. shareware version. Speed can be set from this scale

  126. On the main menu Register is replace with Hints on the game. Also when you 
  127. register this game you'll can also get a none sound version & this sound

  172. Game
  173. Step 1
  174. 1.To install this game you should not place it in your C:\WINDOWS or
  175.   C:\WIN31 or C:\W31 directory, but into it's own subdirectory like in
  176.   this example:
  177.  
  178. C:\WINDOWS\GAMES
  179.  
  180. This way you don't have to clutter up your main Windows directory with 
  181. all these games.
  182.  
  183. Step 2.
  184. Just copy either one to your game directory or whichever you choice to 
  185. place them. In this example it would be  COPY UFO.EXE C:\WINDOWS\GAMES
  186.  
  187. Step  3.
  188. Now that the file contains is dump out, you can use the FileManger and 
  189. Program Manager to drag and drop the UFO.exe to your favorite program goup.
  190. This is one way you can do this!  The other way is that you can use the
  191. Program Manager New item feature and insert UFO.exe that way.
  192.  
  193. Step 4.
  194. Add the game to one of your ProgMan Manager Group files  or  leave it as a
  195. Icon button by doing a drop and drag in Norton Desktop, Pc Tools for 
  196. Windows, or run it from DashBoard quick icon launcher or Program Menu.

  198. Wave Sound Files
  199.  
  200. To install the wave files for this game place them in your Windows 
  201. directory or better yet create a SOUND directory and copy all your 
  202. current wave files to that directory. Add this SOUND directory to your PATH
  203. line in the autoexec.bat file.
  204.  
  205. Also make sure your using a sound card, like Sound Blaster or any other 
  206. wave form compatible card. Also for PC speakers users only you can download
  207. SPEAKER.ZIP and use your PC speaker to pick up Wave sound file also. But
  208. having the Sound Card is the better route to go!
  209.  
  210. To make U.F.O Tracker more fun to play at the longer times I have added 
  211. real sound effects to the game play, menu items and etc...
  212.  
  213. Wave Sound files as listed below that are used with this version;
  214. Files inside WAVEFILE.EXE
  215.  
  216. IG.WAV, TRACK.WAV, TRACK4.WAV, FTON.WAV, RESET.WAV, CLEAR.WAV, GDBYUFO.WAV 
  217.  
  218. These 7 wave files must be used with this game. But don't have to be placed
  219. in the same directory with the game in question. 
  220.  
  221. Note: Failure to keep these files together or in your a file that is in
  222. your path will cause the program to use the default beep wave sound. Or if
  223. you don't have [] ENABLE SOUND checkoff in the CONTROL PANEL Sound Icon or
  224. have no sound card installed in your computer, then you can also play this 
  225. game with out hearing. But it is whole lot better if you can heard the 
  226. sound voice effects in this game.

  228. Step1.
  229. INSTALLATION OF WAVE FILES
  230. Example; Create a C:\SOUND directory 
  231.  
  232. Step2.
  233. Edit your Autoexec.bat Path line and add this path to it
  234. Example; C:\WINDOWS;C:\SOUND
  235.  
  236. Step3.
  237. Copy from this disk WAVEFILE.EXE to C:\SOUND
  238. Example; COPY WAVEFILE.EXE  C:\SOUND
  239.  
  240. Step4.
  241. Type in a Run Command line WAVEFILE and make sure your in
  242. a C:\SOUND directory. Or Use the FileManager and mouse
  243. and double click on WAVEFILE.EXE  the same effect will happen.

  245. Step5.
  246. Remove WAVEFILE.EXE from your HD now!
  247.  
  248. For every main menu item you click on or select a wave sound will go off. 
  249. This is normal and the game was setup this way. So don't be alarmed when
  250. you here these extra  sounds effects.
  251.  
  252. Also one more thing when you do select Exit from the main menu line you'll
  253. here a nice female voice message before the game closes. It's a nice touch
  254. to add to the game Ithought? :o) Includes also Play, Stop, GameOver.

  256. Trouble Shooting Guide (For those who only have 3 out of 4megs free on 
  257.                         their system Only)
  258.  
  259. If your system as only 4 megs and your perm swap file is set to 4 to 10 kb?
  260. Then I would recommend that you change that figure to 11264kb and also
  261. switch from a perm to a temp swap file instead! Change your settings if
  262. you get a on screen message saying NOT ENOUGH MEMORY TO RUN THIS APPLICATION
  263.  
  264. This will correct any memory problems if your system has only 3 or 4 megs!
  265.  
  266. 8 Megs or More memory won't have this problem!
  267.  
  268. Step#1.
  269. From the Main Window Group click on Control Panel icon

  272. Click on 386 enhanced icon the one that has the numbers 3 8 6 on it

  275. Click on Virtual Memory

  278. You should see  something like the following displayed in this example

  283. Size:  4096kb
  284. Type: Temporary

  286. Note: This setting above is good for 8 or more megs systems, and some will
  287. say that a perm setting is better than a Tem one! But the Temp is a whole
  288. faster and only uses what it needs in HD space, while the Perm is slower,
  289. and leave itself on  your HD always.

  292. Click on  Change>>

  295. On New Settings
  296. Change Permanent to Temp
  297.  
  298. Step#7
  299. See New Size,  by-pass what Windows says for you size and type in 11264 for
  300. the kb
  301.  
  302. Step#8
  303. Click Ok

  306. Click Ok to ReStart Windows
  307.  
  308. Step#10
  309. Later-on in the day do a full exit out of Windows and do a full defrag
  310. using MS Defrag, or Norton Speedisk, or PC Disk Cleaner etc..
  311.  
  312. Note: This should get you going, this is a trade secert about the correct
  313. size of these swap files I'm sharing this bit of info with you,
  314. SO MOMS-THE-WORD or whatever that old saying was ok!
  315.  
  316. Use this method if you you get that memory warning display, underwise you
  317. don't have to change your factory default settings, only time you might
  318. have to if it get corrupted. If is was then you would have to remove the
  319. perm swap first, then restart Windows, then exit Windows. Now defrag you
  320. your HD then go back into Windows and reset up your Perm Swap file again.
  321. Yes it's alot of work, but this way you'll get clean Swap file that is not
  322. corrupted anymore!
