- Welcome to the 24 Hours in Cyberspace CD-ROM
-
- This CD-ROM contains the complete 24 Hours in Cyberspace
- World Wide Web site, a "digital time capsule" that includes
- more than 160 stories about how cyberspace is having an
- impact on the lives of people all over the world. Also on
- this CD-ROM is a 12-minute QuickTime(TM) movie from ABC-TV's
- "Nightline," which chronicles the making of 24 Hours in
- Cyberspace. We suggest you watch this fascinating report
- prior to viewing the website, since it will give you an idea
- of how millions of people around the world took part in the
- largest one-day online event in history.
-
- Everything you need to experience the 24 Hours in Cyberspace

- via the Internet, to the people or places featured in these
- stories. Look for the Related Site button, which will take
- you to appropriate website, newsgroup, or email address.

- GENERAL TIPS FOR BOTH MAC and WINDOWS PLATFORMS *Make sure
- your CD-ROM drive is connected, turned on, and working
- properly; that your monitor is set to display at least 256
- colors; and that your sound volume is turned up. (See your
- computer or sound-card manual or contact your dealer if
- necessary.) *If a page does not load properly within the
- site, (missing graphics or photos) click on the "Reload"
- button on the top Netscape toolbar. *The "Related Sites"
- links at the bottom of the stories will take you to the
- Internet. These sites are not part of the 24 Hours in
- Cyberspace web site or CD-ROM - they are maintained by the
- people in our stories. Some sites may take some time to
- access and load. Please be patient! *If you are having audio
- problems, you might want to trash old copies of RealAudio
- and use the RealAudio software that comes in our installer.
- *Quit any unnecessary device drivers and other programs that
- may be using memory. *If your computer is capable of
- displaying thousands or millions of colors, the photographs
- and videos will look much crisper.

- directly from the CD-ROM drive.
-
- MACINTOSH * If you would like to reinstall any of the
- software included this CD, you'll need to rename or trash
- the old 24 Hours in Cyberspace folder. * If you have
- problems viewing the Nightline video clip, try turning off
- Virtual Memory. * If you have multiple copies of Netscape
