  6. Purpose of this program:
  7. Sysup is a utility that tells one how long Windows and Dos 
  8. have been running. Thus, it is very useful for network 
  9. sysops and laptop users.  This program is a hybrid.  It is 
  10. both a Dos program and a Windows program all in one.  Thus, 
  11. one runs the same program from the Dos line and from 
  12. Windows.
  13.  
  14. System Required:
  15. Windows 3 and at least a 286 to use the Windows portion.  
  16. The Dos portion should work on other machines as well.
  17.  
  18. Setup:
  19. 1) Copy Sysup to a directory on your hard drive.  This directory
  20. must be on your path.
  21. 2) Place the following line in your autoexec.bat file:
  22.                 [DRIVE]:\[PATH]]SYSUP /I
  23. Obviously the above [DRIVE] and [PATH] are the drive and 
  24. path where you have located Sysup.  This line should be as 
  25. near to the end of the file as possible.  However,  it 
  26. should be before "win" or your menu program.  {This line 
  27. must be in your autoexec.bat or the program will not be able 
  28. to calculate how long dos has been running}
  29. 3) Now type "sysup /i". {Without the quotes obviously} This 
  30. will create a file called sysup.ini which must reside in the 
  31. same directory as sysup.exe.
  32. 4) Reboot your computer.

  34. Usage:
  35. Command line:
  36.       sysup [switch]
  37.            i - This initializes Sysup by recording the time 
  38.                 that the system comes on line.
  39.            r - Use this switch when you register the program.
  40.            h - Shows the various switches. {i.e. help      
  41.                 switches}
  42.       Typing Sysup by itself will show the system up time.
  43.  
  44. Windows:
  45.       Close: Self evident.
  46.       Options:        Bring to Front: Use this to toggle      
  47.                                       whether Sysup rises to 
  48.                                       the top of your desktop.
  49.                 Show System Up Time: Toggle wether or not 
  50.                                       the system up time is 
  51.                                       shown as well as the 
  52.                                       Windows up time.
  53.       Help: Self evident.
  54. These settings are remembered even after the program is terminated.

  57. Absolutely none, this program is provided as is.

  60. This program may be freely distributed in unmodified form, 
  61. and with all its adjunct files intact.  In addition, it may 
  62. not be sold except for a nominal copying fee not to exceed 
  63. $5.

  78. A Hint:
  79. If you register now you will get the program at $5.  This 
  80. will go up as improvements are made to the program. I 
  81. threatened a nag screen in version 0.5 and I have now 
  82. implemented it.  So, the people who did register got the 
  83. latest program for free, and don't have to bother with the 
  84. nag screen.

  87. 0.5ß:  First release, great things lie ahead.
  88. 0.6ß:  Minor maintenance release. [Next release will    
  89.            probably be 1.0 with many more features]
  90. 1.0:   Sysup is now a hybrid.  It reports how long the 
  91.            system has been running as well as how long     
  92.            Windows has been running. {It can also stay
  93.            on top now} 
  94. 1.01:  Squelched an esoteric bug in the time calculation algorythm.
  95. 2.0:   Possibly a tsr of sorts that somehow uses umbs or xms 
  96.            maybe.  However, this all depends on the        
  97.            registration response to this release.  So, make 
  98.            all the effort I have put into this program worth 
  99.            my while.
