- Most Windows programs are compiled in a Real Mode Version. The
- Real mode version (I called Variable Mode in the About Box)
- allows the program to operate in all 3 Windows Modes: Real,
- Standard, and Enhanced (386).
-
- Windows will run a 286 compiled version, but it will run only
- in the Standard and Enhanced (386) Modes.
-
- Therefore, to get the best:
-
- I Compiled a 286 version named ARCHV286.EXE. Do not rename this
- program. Run this version if you never run Archives
- while Windows is in the REAL mode. This version will run in both
- Standard & Enhanced Modes of windows (PROTECTED). It is slightly
- smaller, and slightly faster to run versus the REAL mode version.
- This version will require the user to be registered before it
- will run. ARSET286.EXE is used to configure this program.
- Additionally, do not rename ARSET286.EXE.
-
- The Beta testers can use the Either the REAL Mode version or the
- PROTECTED Mode version. You cannot use both programs at the
- same time!!!!!!!! Windows will terminate because they have
- the same windclass name (technical jargon).
-
- Reminder:
-
- You cannot use both the 286 version and the REAL Mode programs at the same
- time!!!!!!!!
-
- You must have a registration code to run the 286 versions.
