  9.     When you decide to register as a user contact Mark Berlinger by
  10. the U. S. postal service.  Messages may be sent to CompuServe identification
  11. number 70134,3016.

  13.     Here's the deal.  You send a sawbuck (ten dollars American) and a
  14. proper name to the address below.  Upon receiving the consideration you will
  15. be contacted through the same BBS or mail if desired.  The return message
  16. will contain an identification number.
  17.  
  18.     The name and ID number are entered into the nagware dialog box.
  19. The name and ID number are added to the "notebook.ini" information which
  20. sits in the "windows" sub-tree.  "Notebook" will run without the nagware
  21. display when the "ini" file contains a proper name and ID number match.
  22. The proper name will appear in the title bar at program start.
  23.  
  24.     The matching name and ID number will work in possible minor version
  25. number upgrades containing minor fixes or improvements to "Notebook".
  26. Constructive criticism is always appreciated.

  28. *    An unfinished beta version of Notebook was placed on Compuserve
  29. 1/31/91 for a few hours.  The incomplete version had the label "beta" on the
  30. menu bar and should be discarded.

  32.     Beta2 was correct but contained a non-fatal unsaved document print
  33. bug that was fixed in the beta3 version.
  34.  
  35.     Beta3 added word wrap and a page margin setup facility.
  36.  
  37.     Beta4 added case sense selective searches and command line parameter
  38. associative file opening.
  39.  
  40.     Beta5 added title and page number output to the print spooler,
  41. searches that scan the entire document in one operation to go to a line
  42. number and/or find text, and a direct go to end of document feature.

  44.     Beta6 added a replace feature to be used with search.  Also an
  45. intermittently fatal bug in backward searches through huge documents has been
  46. fixed.  And a non-fatal bug in go to end of a huge document when in wordwrap,
  47. has been fixed.

  49.     Version 1.0 added a file run with association menuitem, a modifiable
  50. title output to the print spooler, and proper size and initial position of
  51. the position box on an 800x600 display.
  52.  
  53.     Version 1.1 added default filespec enhancement to the Open and Run
  54. dialog boxes.  Also if the display driver sets a larger height for the menu
  55. bar to accommodate 8514 fonts, then larger (26 pixels high) pushbutton
  56. menuitems are shown.  A non-fatal bug of line count after a huge forward
  57. search was fixed.  Finally, a powerful automatic find and replace function
  58. was added.

  60.     Version 1.2 fixed a non-fatal bug in the automatic replace all
  61. command.  An icon file was included for better contrast on monochrome
  62. displays.
  63.  
  64.     Version 1.3 fixed a fatal memory allocation bug that showed up when
  65. operating in stressed disk swapping situations.  Also the maximum number of
  66. characters on a line is limited to 1024.

  68.     Version 1.4 added a file merge function to allow the insertion of a
  69. text file anywhere into the current document.  File open and file merge can
  70. insert carriage return line feed pairs as necessary to format the document.

  72.     Notebk15.zip fixes a fatal local memory allocation bug that showed
  73. up if Notebook was minimized when in word wrap mode with a file larger than
  74. 20 kilobytes loaded.  Now Notebook can be minimized with any text file
  75. loaded in word wrap mode.  A non-fatal global allocation bug on associative
  76. file open in word wrap mode has been fixed.  This allows a file of any size
  77. to be completely read in word wrap mode.

  79.     User feedback has been gratifying.  Input from the customers is
  80. allowing features to be added and errors to be removed.  Thank you.

  82.     Notebook.exe is bundled with a help file called notebook.hlp, an
  83. icon file for black and white displays called notebkbw.ico, and this file
  84. called noteinfo.  This is Notebook version 1.51 which has the label "1.51"
  85. right aligned on the menu bar.
