  8. INTRODUCTION:

  10. Windows Send is a utility program designed to send broadcast messages
  11. to users or groups across a Netware LAN.  It basically provides the
  12. same functionality as the DOS based SEND command provided by Novell
  13. Netware, except that it is designed to work under Microsoft Windows
  14. 3.0.

  16. REQUIREMENTS:
  17.  
  18. All that is required to run WINDOWS SEND is that you must be running
  19. Windows 3.0 or above and that you have a Novell Netware based LAN
  20. running Netware 2.1 or above.

  22. INSTALLATION:
  23.  
  24. Installation of WINDOWS SEND is very straightforward.  The executable
  25. program WSEND.EXE (and its associated library WSENDDLL.DLL) must be
  26. copied somewhere in the DOS Path or in the current directory. To run
  27. the program, go to the 'File Run' option in the Program Manager menu
  28. and type WSEND.EXE in the dialog box.

  30. You may decide to have WSEND.EXE executed automatically everytime you
  31. start windows.    To do this, edit your WIN.INI file and append the text
  32. 'WSEND.EXE' to the end of the line.  If you wish you can also add the
  33. WSEND.EXE icon to one of your program groups.

  35. Consult your DOS and WINDOWS manual for further details.

  37. NOTE: If you are running WINDOWS on your Netware LAN, to receive
  38. broadcast messages, you must have the Netware drivers for WINDOWS
  39. properly installed and you must have NWPOPUP.EXE specified on the load
  40. line in your WIN.INI file.

  42. INSIDE WINDOWS SEND:
  43.  
  44. When WINDOWS SEND is loaded, it scans the network for all logged in
  45. users and all groups.  These names go into a list box that from which
  46. you can select the target of your message.  The text of the message
  47. that you wish to send is to type into the first edit field on the
  48. screen.

  50. Once you have entered your message and you wish to send it, press the
  51. SEND button.  If you wish to close the WINDOWS SEND application, select
  52. the CLOSE button.  It is assumed however, that most users will open
  53. WINDOWS SEND and leave it as an icon throughout their windows session.
  54. Because of this and the fact that other users may log into or log out
  55. of the network, the user/group combo list box may become out of date.
  56. If you wish to update your list, press the REFRESH LISTS button.  We
  57. could have made rereading the list automatic but on some slower
  58. networks the delay in reading the user list can be as much as 15
  59. seconds.

  61. The other list box on the window shows you the servers that you are
  62. currently attached to.    If you wish to send a message to a user who is
  63. logged into another network that your network is bridged to, you must
  64. attach to that network (consult you network administrator for
  65. details).  When Windows Send is loaded or the REFRESH LISTS buttons is
  66. hit these attached networks are scanned and added to the list box.
  67. When you select a new attached network to send messages to the
  68. userlist list box is automatically read and updated with users from
  69. that network.

  71. ENHANCEMENTS:

  73. Version 1.4b incorporates coding changes which take advantage of the
  74. DOS Protected Mode Interface (DPMI) which allows WSEND to function
  75. properly in all three Windows modes, REAL STANDARD AND ENHANCED.  This
  76. version also optimizes the functionality of the main "push buttons" and
  77. reduces flicker.

  79. Version 1.3 of Windows send incorporate two major new features over
  80. previous versions. The first is that one can now select as many users
  81. or groups from the User/group list box or as many servers from the
  82. Servers list box as one wishes. This enables you to send one message
  83. to several people simultaneously. The other main feature is that
  84. messages can also be sent directly to the server console. There are
  85. also a number of cosmetic changes.

  91. WINDOWS SEND Version 1.4b is currently being marketed as shareware.
  92. Subsequent versions may NOT be available as shareware and the prices
  93. outlined below may not be valid for new releases. To obtain a
  94. registered single user copy and a valid registration number of WINDOWS

  104. A single site licsence of WSEND is avaible for $200 US per server. This site
  105. liscence gives the owner the right to install WSEND on as many PC's as
  106. are attatched to a SINGLE server. Multiple servers require multiple
  107. site licenses. (ie if your corporation has 3 Novell servers connected
  108. thru bridges and you wished all users on all servers to get a copy of
  109. WSEND, this would cost $600 regardless of howmany people on connected to
  110. each server).
