  7. Well, this is one of those simple little programs that can make life
  8. a little easier.  The purpose of this program is simply to allow you
  9. to double-click on an icon and shutdown Windows.  This I found to be
  10. easier than going through Program Manager.
  11.  
  12. You can just simply exit Windows, or configure it to display a dialog
  13. box asking you if you really want to exit.  This is similar to what
  14. you get from Program Manager.

  16.             BUT DON'T WORRY!.
  17.  
  18. This method of closing down Windows is the same way Program Manager
  19. does it.  So no work will be lost.  For example, let's say you have
  20. EXCEL running with a spreadsheet you just created or modified, but
  21. haven't saved yet.  EXCEL (and all running programs) will get notified
  22. by Windows that it is closing down, so you have a chance to save your
  23. work.

  30. To install WinExit, just add it to the LOAD= line in your WIN.INI file.
  31. The program is setup to only allow one instance of itself.  I didn't
  32. see a point to have two running.

  34. WinExit's system menu has 3 new options.  The first is the menu
  35. equivilent of double-clicking the icon.  At the bottom of the menu is
  36. the ABOUT box and the EXIT DIALOG BOX option.  The EXIT DIALOG BOX
  37. option is a toggle.  If this is toggled on (a checkmark will appear),
  38. when you double-click a dialog box will appear asking you if you really
  39. want to exit.  This setting is saved in the WIN.INI file under the
  40. keyword [WinExit].
