  6. Purpose of this program:
  7. Sysup  is a utility that tells one how long Windows and  DOS
  8. have  been  running.  Thus, it is very  useful  for  network
  9. sysops and laptop users.  This program is a hybrid.   It  is
  10. both  a DOS program and a Windows program all in one.  Thus,
  11. one  can run the same program from the DOS command line  and
  12. from Windows.

  14. System Required:
  15. Windows  3  and  at least a 286 to use the Windows  portion.
  16. The DOS portion should work on other machines as well.
  17.  
  18. Setup:
  19. 1)  Copy  Sysup  to  a directory on your  hard  drive.   The
  20. directory must be on your path.
  21. 2) Place the following line in your autoexec.bat file:
  22.                   [DRIVE]:\[PATH]]SYSUP /I
  23. Obviously  the  above [DRIVE] and [PATH] are the  drive  and
  24. path  where you have located Sysup.  This line should be  as
  25. near  to  the  end  of the file as possible.   However,   it
  26. should  be  before "win" or your menu program.   {This  line
  27. must be in your autoexec.bat or the program will not be able
  28. to calculate how long DOS has been running}
  29. 3)  Now type "sysup /i". {Without the quotes obviously} This
  30. will create a file called sysup.ini which must reside in the
  31. same directory as sysup.exe.
  32. 4) Reboot your computer.

  34. Usage:
  35. Command line:
  36.      sysup [switch]
  37.       i  - This initializes Sysup by recording the time that
  38.                 the system comes on line.
  39.       r - Use this switch when you register the program.
  40.       h - Shows the various switches. {i.e. help switches}
  41. Typing Sysup by itself will show the system up time.
  42.  
  43. Windows:
  44.       Close: Self evident.
  45.       Options:  Bring to Front*: Use this to toggle whether 
  46.                                   to bring Sysup to the top 
  47.                                   of your desktop.
  48.                 Show System Up Time*: Toggle whether or  not
  49.                                   the system up time is shown 
  50.                                   as well as the Windows up
  51.                                   time.
  52.       Help: Self evident.

  55. *: These settings are remembered even after the program is terminated.

  58. Absolutely none, this program is provided as is.

  61. This  program may be freely distributed in unmodified  form,
  62. and  with all its adjunct files intact.  In addition, it may
  63. not  be  sold except for a nominal copying fee not to exceed
  64. $5.

  80. A Hint:
  81. If  you register now you will get to use the program for $5.
  82. This  will go up as improvements are made to the program.  I
  83. threatened  a  nag  screen in version 0.5  and  I  have  now
  84. implemented  it.   So, the people who did register  got  the
  85. latest  program for free, and don't have to bother with  the
  86. nag screen.

  88. History:
  89. 0.5▀:     First release, great things lie ahead.
  90. 0.6▀:     Minor  maintenance release.  [Next  release  will
  91.                 probably be 1.0 with many more features]
  92. 1.0:      Sysup is now a hybrid.  It reports how  long  the
  93.                 system has been running as well as how long 
  94.                 Windows has been running. {It can also stay 
  95.                 on top now}
  96. 1.01:     Squelched an esoteric bug in the time calculation
  97.                 algorithm.
  98. 1.02:     I could not leave Sysup as it was.  The "bring  to
  99.                 front" / "stay on top" function is  now much  
  100.                 improved.   (i.e.  the annoying  flicker  is
  101.                 gone).  I have added check marks  to options 
  102.                 that have been selected.   This makes things 
  103.                 clearer.  Misc. bugs squelched.
  104. 2.0:      Possibly a tsr of sorts that somehow uses umbs  or
  105.                 xms maybe.  However, this all depends on the  
  106.                 registration response  to this release.  So, 
  107.                 make all the effort  I  have  put into  this 
  108.                 program worth my while.  But then maybe not,
  109.                 since I am unwilling to  put in  the  effort 
  110.                 because of the response, or lack thereof, to  
  111.                 my  request for  registrations and feedback.
