  4. Sloop Manager is the complete graphical replacement for MS Windows 3.0
  5. Program Manager.  It has virtually all the features of Program Manager plus
  6. a host of new ones.
  7.  
  8. Features include:
  9.   - the ability to create folders (groups) within folders
  10.   - move or copy items from folder to folder using drag/drop
  11.   - run command with browse button which also stores last twelve commands
  12.   - associate command that allows multiple programs to be associated
  13.     with a single extension
  14.   - customizable command lines for any item
  15.   - save location and size of folder as well as item positions
  16.   - use virtually any icon on the system to represent items
  17.   - tie two or more folders to the same subfolder
  18.   - display items as icons or just names
  19.   - password protection
  20.   - multi-select capability in adding, deleting, moving or
  21.     copying folder items
  22.   - startup folder may be used to remove need to edit WIN.INI
  23.  
  24. Installation (no previous version installed):
  25.   1. Copy files SLOOPMAN.EXE, SLOOPMAN.HLP, SLOOPMAN.INI and BWCC.DLL to
  26.      your windows directory.
  27.   2. Run SMINSTLL and follow its directions.  Make sure the directory 
  28.      you run SMINSTLL from also contains the other files included on
  29.      the disk or in the zip file.  If you have an existing folder system
  30.      created with Folders, you can import it into Sloop Manager.  Be sure
  31.      and note what version the Folders system is, as you may be prompted
  32.      for that information.  You must have version 3.1 or later of Folders
  33.      to import it into Sloop Manager. 
  34.   3. That's it.  You should now be able to run Sloop Manager.
  35.  
  36. Installation (previous version installed):
  37.   1. Copy files SLOOPMAN.EXE, SLOOPMAN.HLP and BWCC.DLL to your windows
  38.      directory.  Do NOT copy over your SLOOPMAN.INI file.
  39.   2. Run SMINSTLL and select Reinstall.  This will update your data files
  40.      to the new format.
  41.   3. Restart Sloop Manager.
  42.  
  43.   If this installation process should fail, follow the directions for
  44.   manual install found in SLOOPMAN.WRI.
  45.  
  46.   Note that if you converted an existing Folders system to Sloop Manager,
  47.   you may delete your folders data directory and the files FOLDERS.EXE,
  48.   FOLDERS.HLP and FOLDERS.INI, if you so desire.  This will remove Folders
  49.   from your system as it is not needed if you have Sloop Manager.

  51. Getting Started:
  52.   1. If you installed Sloop Manager as the shell, simply restart
  53.      Windows and Sloop Manager should appear on startup.
  54.   2. If you didn't install it as the shell, run it as you would any
  55.      other program.

  57.   Note that the program will no longer run under Real mode of Windows.
  58.  
  59. Uninstalling Sloop Manager:
  60.   1. Edit the SYSTEM.INI file, found in the Windows directory, using an
  61.      editor like Notepad.
  62.   2. Find the line which reads: shell=sloopman.exe
  63.      Change the line to read: shell=progman.exe
  64.   3. Save and close the SYSTEM.INI file.
  65.   4. Restart Windows.  Program Manager should now start as the shell.

  84. Note that this is a shareware program.  As such, you may use it on a trial
  85. basis for thirty days.  After this time, the program should be registered 
  86. if it is continued to be used.  The cost is $35 for the latest version and
  87. a printed manual.  For $30 you receive the latest version, but no manual.
