  3. All users should read CHANGES.TXT.  There are sometimes (as now)
  4. critical differences between how this Version operates versus
  5. prior versions.  ie. Do you know what an exclamation point on a
  6. menu means? - That function executes immediately, right now, pronto,
  7. and without any additional confirmation.  (This follows normal
  8. Windows conventions.)
  9.  
  10. The ARCH08.ZIP file contains the following program files:
  11.  
  12.     ARCHV286.EXE    A Protected Mode version of Archives.
  13.             Compiled in the 286 Mode.  Use this program
  14.             instead of ARCHIVES.EXE if you never
  15.             operate Windows in the REAL Mode.  Slightly
  16.             smaller code and slightly faster.  Do NOT
  17.             rename this program to ARCHIVES.EXE
  18.  
  19.     ARCH.BAT    DOS Batch file used to run PKUNZIP, etc.
  20.     ARCH.PIF    Windows PIF file used to execute ARCH.BAT.
  21.     ARCHV.INI    A Windows type INI (information) file.

  25.     ARCHHELP.ZIP    The complete documentation for Archive
  26.             in a Windows Write format.  This compressed
  27.             file contains ARCHHELP.WRI.  Use Archives to
  28.             'CheckOut' this file.
  29.     ARCHIVES.HLP    A Windows on-line help file for Archives.
  30.     ARCH_INI.TXT    A description of the variables in ARCHV.INI
  31.             for those who fiddle with INI files.
  32.     CHANGES.TXT    Lists changes between versions.
  33.     README.TXT    These Start up notes.
  34.     REGISTER.FRM    A text Registration form that can be printed
  35.             from Archives.
  36.     QUESTION.TXT    Answers to common questions, ie how to always
  37.             start Archives in my download directory.
  38.             for those who fiddle with INI files.
  39.     TUTOR.TXT    A quick tutor on how the Buttons & Windows

  44. If you need a WINDOWS REAL MODE version of ARCHIVES, please download
  45. ARCR08.ZIP (Note the 'R' in ARCR08.ZIP versus the 'H' in the above
  46. ARCH08.ZIP)  See list at end of this document for bulletin boards
  47. that always have the latest version of ARCR08.ZIP and ARCH08.ZIP

  49. The ARCR08.ZIP file contains the following file:
  50.  
  51.     ARCHIVES.EXE    The MAIN PROGRAM compiled for Real, Standard
  52.             and Enhanced (386) Windows modes.
  53.  
  54.             NOTE: For previous Archives users,
  55.             ArcSetup.exe is no longer used!
  56.  
  57. None of the above files must be in your path statement.
  58.  
  59. If Archives.HLP is not in your path statement, then it must be in
  60. the same directory as Archives.EXE.

  62. If the two ARCH.* files are not in your path statement, then you
  63. MUST confirm the location of these two files when you run
  64. [Configure]+[Setup] and they must be located in a directory where
  65. their directory+names is less than 30 characters.  Setup will warn
  66. you if there is a problem.  The two ARCH.* files can be in
  67. different directories, however, the ARCH.PIF must have the directory
  68. location of the ARCH.BAT recorded  the Program Filename.
