- Config/Autoexec Manager 2.62 Preface
-
-
-
- P R E F A C E
-
-
- Config/Autoexec Manager version 2.62 was created to extend the
- function of Config/Autoexec Manager version 2.5. This release
- contains a number of enhancements described herein.
-
- CAM manages up to 20 different AUTOEXEC.BAT & CONFIG.SYS file
- combinations each known as a system configuration. For users
- requiring more than 20 different configurations, CAMPRO, or
- CAM Professional, is designed to manage up to 20 different
- categories that contain up to 20 different configurations.
-
- CAM and CAMPRO are designed to be installed and executed with a
- minimal amount of reference needed. Config/Autoexec Manager is
- the only program to date that can easily maintain your
- configurations. No other program can compare to the simplicity
- of CAM. CAM is "THE STANDARD" in multiple configuration
- management.
-
- Since its initial release, CAM has been able to adapt to the
- fast-paced changes in the computer industry. As time progresses,
- alternate versions of CAM will be available to operate under a
- multitude of operating systems and environments. This is due to
- the result of user support. You, the end user, have made CAM
- what it is today. Thank You For Supporting Shareware!!
-
- A special thank you goes to Slick Leigh and Ed Rauch for their
- support and assistance on this project. Their expertise and
- insight are greatly appreciated. Thank You!!
-
- About this manual: As the name implies, this is a User's Manual
- describing the operation of Config/Autoexec Manager. It is not
- intended as a tutorial on system configuration and setup, in
- general. For more general information of system configuration
- and setup or contents, consult your Disk Operation System manual.

- Config/Autoexec Manager 2.62 Introduction
-
- I N T R O D U C T I O N
-
- WHY YOU NEED CONFIG/AUTOEXEC MANAGER
-
- If you have purchased a program that requires its own system
- configuration, i.e. its own AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS file, or
- modifies the current root directory configuration when the
- program is installed, such as Microsoft Windows or Quarterdeck's
- Desqview, or the like, then you have a need for Config/Autoexec
- Manager. Config/Autoexec Manager has been developed for users
- who have a need for more than one system configuration. These
- configurations are needed to be quickly selected and placed in
- the root directory of your boot drive to be executed upon system
- reboot. Config/Autoexec Manager will allow you to create and
- manage up to 20 different configurations and keep track of these
- configurations whereby you can select which configuration to
- execute and press the Enter key. Config/Autoexec Manager manages
- these configurations more effectively than any other comparable
- program to date. CAM is the standard in multiple configuration
- management.
-
- Since its initial development, CAM has expanded its
- functionality. This expansion is due to the acknowledgement of
- two types of users, the general user and the power user. The
- general user will need only a minimal selection of different
- configurations, generally up to 20 configurations. However, the
- power user constantly changes and tests a variety of applications
- that need more than these basic 20 configurations. CAM is
- designed for the general user or the user whose needs are basic.
- That is, the need for 20 configurations or less. On the other
- hand, the power user or system developer needs more than 20
- configurations and also needs to maintain them categorically.
- CAMPRO or CAM Professional is designed for this purpose. CAMPRO
- will allow the user to create up to 20 different categories with
- up to 20 different configurations in each category. What ever
- your needs, then there is a version of CAM for you. You decide
- which one is for you.
-
-
- HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
-
- CAM 2.62 requires a minimum of 512K of available RAM (Random
- Access Memory) to execute properly depending upon the size of
- your editor used in conjunction with CAM. That is, 512K RAM in
- addition to the operating system and any memory resident programs
- such as Sidekick, Superkey, etc... If you are operating with
- less than 512K total RAM, CAM 2.6 might not be able to load your
- editor properly. CAM will operate under the DOS operating system
- version 2.11 to current version on the IBM PC, XT, AT, or close
- compatibles including the PS/2 systems and may be used with color
- or monochrome displays.
-
- Because CAM 2.62 may have a relatively large number of files open
- at once, you must assure that the FILES parameter in your
- CONFIG.SYS file is large enough to accommodate them. We suggest
- using FILES=30 (or larger). Your DOS manual can give you more
- information on the CONFIG.SYS file.
-
- It is recommended that CAM 2.62 be installed to a hard disk or
- non-removable disk medium.

-
- Config/Autoexec Manager 2.62 CAM Files
-
-
- C A M F I L E S
-
- Config/Autoexec Manager is released as Shareware, i.e. you are
- given permission by the author to install and use CAM on one
- computer with one CPU for a period of thirty days to determine
- whether or not you have a use for the program. Continued use
- beyond the thirty day period granted by the author requires
- registration. See Appendix D for Registration Details.
-
- The files contained in the Config/Autoexec Manager 2.62 Package
- are:
-
- CAM.EXE - Executable Program.
-
- CAM.CFG - CAM Setup File.
-
- CAM.DAT - Configuration Information File.
-
- REGISTER.FRM - Registration Form File.
-
- ERROR.FRM - Program Error Report Form File.
-
- INSTALL.EXE - CAM Installation Program.
-
- UPGRADE.EXE - CAM Configuration Upgrade Utility Program.
-
- CAM262.DOC - Documentation File.
-
- README.COM - View Utility for README File.
-
- README - Overview of New Features File.
-
- HISTORY.DOC - CAM Development Cycle File.
-
- All of these files will have a blank line of the last letter in
- the file extension. This is to permit correct installation of
- CAM. If you find that some of these files are missing, consider
- it not to be a bona fide and true copy. See Appendix C for
- obtaining a bona fide and true copy from the sources listed.
-
-
- IN NO WAY, MUST ANY OF THESE FILES BE MODIFIED BY ANY MEANS OR OF
- ANY FORM.

- Config/Autoexec Manager 2.62 Installation
-
- I N S T A L L A T I O N
-
- USING THE INSTALLATION PROGRAM
-
- You begin the installation procedure by either inserting the CAM
- disk into Drive A and typing INSTALL at the DOS prompt after
- closing the drive latch, or unzipping the CAM262.ZIP file into
- its own directory and typing INSTALL at the DOS prompt.
-
- Example: A> INSTALL <Press ENTER or RETURN>
-
- The Installation Menu will appear on the screen and you will be
- able to re-define or use the default drive and directory. After
- editing the destination directory if necessary, press the Enter
- or Return key and the Installation Program will begin to create
- CAM's directory and relocate the appropriate files on the
- destination drive.
-
- If the destination directory you have selected contains a prior
- version of CAM, then the Select Prior Version Menu will appear
- and you will be able to select which version you have already
- installed on your system. After selected the correct prior
- version of CAM, the Installation Program will upgrade your
- configurations and CAM Setup file to the newer 2.62 version.
- When this is completed, you do not have to run the Upgrade
- utility program enclosed with this version.
-
- If your destination directory does not contain a prior version or
- you do not wish to install the new version of CAM into an
- existing prior version directory, the Installation Program will
- install CAM 2.62 into that designated directory you have
- selected. If you have a prior version on your system, then after
- installation you can use the Upgrade utility program to convert
- the CAM Setup file and configurations to the new 2.62 version.
-
- After the Installation Program has completed, you will be placed
- in the CAM 2.62 directory on the destination drive. On the
- screen at the top left corner, you will see instructions to
- proceed to the next step. Otherwise, type CAM at the DOS prompt
- to configure the new CAM 2.62 version at the DOS prompt to your
- needs and specifications.
-
- INITIAL CAM EXECUTION
-
- If you have not upgraded an existing prior version of CAM upon
- installation, then upon the initial execution of CAM you will be
- prompted for necessary changes in the CAM Setup.
-
- First, you will be prompted to confirm or change your boot drive.
- A small window will appear on your screen asking you to confirm
- the desired boot drive. Once the boot drive has been defined,
- CAM will search the root directory on the boot drive for the
- AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files. If these files are not found
- on the designated boot drive, CAM will prompt you as to their
- location. The drive where these files are located is assumed to
- be the boot drive. When these files are located, they are then
- copied to the CAM directory and stored as the first initial
- configuration named 'STANDARD CONFIGURATION' and given the
- filename of 'DEFAULT'. The filename can be changed at your
- discretion. After this has been completed, you will be able
-
- Copyright (c) 1990-1992 - Miller Programming & Consulting 3
-
-
- Config/Autoexec Manager 2.62 Installation
-
- to make any necessary changes in the CAM Setup file.
-
- Second, another window will appear on your screen. The contents
- of this window is the CAM Setup screen. Here you will find the
- boot drive, default CAM directory, editor path & name, warm/cold
- boot options, make root configuration read-only option, and disk
- cache options. You can change any or all of these options as to
- your system setup. A highlighted bar is at the first option and
- can be moved to other options by using the Up or Down arrow keys
- or the Enter or Return key. When you are at the last option and
- press the Enter or Return key, if any options have been changed,
- you will then be prompted to save these options to disk. If the
- editor path & name you have defined cannot be found, then CAM
- will prompt you to change the editor path & name to a valid path
- and name. Otherwise, the options and their settings listed will
- be saved to disk in the CAM.CFG file.
-
- After the CAM Setup has been saved, the initial installation and
- setup is completed and CAM will be executed normally. You will
- be placed in the CAM Configuration Selection screen.
-
- At the Configuration Selection screen, you will find at the top
- of the screen the Active and Copied configurations. The Active
- configuration is the configuration that is currently in memory
- since the last reboot of the system. This will not change unless
- another configuration is selected and the computer is rebooted
- under that configuration. The Copied configuration is the latest
- configuration that has been placed in the root directory by CAM.
- This will be changed when an alternate configuration has been
- selected and copied to the root directory. The window in the
- center of the screen, the Configuration Selection window,
- contains the available configurations to the left of the window
- and the functions of the highlighted configuration to the right
- of the window. The highlighted bar can be moved to an alternate
- configuration if more than one of the descriptions appear on the
- screen by pressing the Up or Down arrow keys. The F1, F2, F3,
- Alt-A, and Alt-C key functions act directly on the configuration
- under the highlighted bar.
-
- You also can include the CAM directory in your PATH statement in
- your AUTOEXEC.BAT file. This option will allow you to begin CAM
- from anywhere on your drive. See your DOS manual for more
- information concerning your PATH statement.
-
- USING THE UPGRADE PROGRAM
-
- If you install CAM into its own directory and have a prior
- version of CAM also installed on your drive in another directory,
- you can use the Upgrade program after you have installed CAM 2.62
- and executed CAM for the first time having the 'STANDARD
- CONFIGURATION' already installed as your first configuration.
-
- To execute the UPGRADE.EXE program, type UPGRADE at the DOS
- prompt and press the Enter or Return key. The Upgrade program
- will prompt you for the prior version for the prior version
- directory. After you have given the correct directory for your
- prior version, then the Upgrade program will ask if you would
- like to update your CAM Setup file.
-
-
-
- Copyright (c) 1990-1992 - Miller Programming & Consulting 4
-
-
- Config/Autoexec Manager 2.62 Installation
-
- If you select to update your CAM Setup File then the Upgrade
- Program will place your editor, registration name and number, and
- other associated variable values to operate the new version of
- CAM that exists in your prior version setup. If you do not have
- a registered version, then the registration name and number will
- not be installed into your new CAM Setup File.
-
- After you have update the CAM Setup File, if so desired, then the
- upgrade program will convert your old configurations from your
- prior version and store them in the new CAM default directory, if
- different. The upgrade program will only convert up to 20
- configurations, that is, it will only store the converted
- configurations in any open records of the new version. The ones
- not converted will remain in the old default directory. Only
- empty configuration records will be used.
-
- After you have completed the upgrade, then the upgrade program
- will display the number of configurations converted and you will
- be then able to exit the upgrade program by pressing the Enter or
- Return key.
-
-
- CAM'S FILENAMING SCHEME
-
- To effectively manage the different configurations, CAM adds its
- own file extension to each configuration file. That is, for each
- AUTOEXEC.BAT file part, CAM adds a 'A01-A20' and for each
- CONFIG.SYS file part, CAM add a 'C01-C20'. These files are
- sequentially number to represent 1-20 configurations. CAM allows
- you to create or name the first eight letters of the filename.
- If you create your own configuration outside of CAM, you must
- keep to this file name scheme so CAM will know how to identify
- each one. When a configuration is added, CAM will automatically
- use this scheme to name each of the files.

- 45 character string. The filename is the eight letter name given
- to the file. Example: DOS Filename CONFIG1.A01, whereby, CONFIG1
- is the filename and A01 is the file name extension. The user
- will be prompted to give the password (if password is not blank)
- when the user tries to access the configuration by renaming,
- editing the configuration files, executing, deleting, or
- otherwise choosing an activity with the selected configuration.
- If the password is not the correct one, then the user will not be
- allowed to access the configuration in CAM. After the above
- information is given, then the user will be prompted to save the
- data. If saved, the user will be allowed to import the
- configuration if desired or clone the current root directory
- configuration. If the configurations files (AUTOEXEC.BAT and
- CONFIG.SYS) files already exist in the CAM directory, then the
- existing files will be used for the configuration.
-
- F2- RENAME HIGHLIGHTED CONFIGURATION - Pressing the F2 key will
- activate the Rename Highlighted Configuration window. If a
- password is active for the highlighted configuration, then the
- user will be prompted to enter the correct password. This
- function will allow you to change or edit the configuration
- description, filename, and password. You will also observe the
- complete filename, size, time, and date in the window. If the
- filename is changed, then the filename will be changed to the one
- which was given upon saving of the changes made. If any data in
- the fields are changed, you will be prompted to save the changes.
-
-
- F3 - DELETE HIGHLIGHTED CONFIGURATION - Pressing the F3 key will
- activate the Delete Highlighted Configuration window which will
- prompt you to delete the selected configuration with a Yes or No
- option. Also, you will be able to delete the configuration files
- from the CAM default directory with a Yes or No option in the
- following window named Delete Configuration Files window.
-
- F4 - VIEW A DIRECTORY - Pressing the F4 key will activate the
- View A Directory window displaying the CAM default directory as a
- predefined selection. This selection can be changed by you if
- you desire to view an alternate directory. After you select the
- directory you wish to view, the directory listing will be
- displayed in three columns. At the top of the screen, you will
- see displayed the directory you selected, the number of files
- contained in the directory, sum total of all file sizes in the
- selected directory in bytes, and the total number of bytes free
- listed on the current drive. If there is a long listing of files
- in the selected directory than can be displayed on the screen,
- then you can press the PageDown key to view the remaining files
- in the directory.

- F5 - VIEW DOS ENVIRONMENT - Pressing the F5 key will open the
- View DOS Environment window. Contained in this window will be
- the complete environmental variables listing. These variables
- will be the COMSPEC, PATH, PROMPT, SET statements, and etc... If
- the environment listing is larger than the window, you can press
- the PageDown key to view the rest of the environment listing.
- The environment being viewed will be contained in the active
- configuration being held in the computer's memory since the last
- reboot of the computer.
-
- F6 - VIEW PROGRAM INFORMATION - Pressing the F6 key will activate
- the View Program Information window. This window will contain
- the program name and version, author's name, copyright date, and
- the user's name and registration number, if the program has been
- registered. For non-registered versions, the message displayed
- will alert you that you are working with an non-registered
- evaluation copy. See APPENDIX D for Registration procedures.
-
- F7 - CHANGE CAM SETUP - Pressing the F7 key will activate the
- Change CAM Setup window. In this window, you will find the user
- defined variables of the Boot Drive, CAM Default Directory,
- Editor Path & Name, Warm/Cold Reboot Option, Make Root
- Configuration Read-Only Option, and the Disk Cache Users Option.
- The Boot Drive is where you configurations, AUTOEXEC.BAT and
- CONFIG.SYS, will be copied for the reboot process. The CAM
- Default Directory is the directory path where CAM is residing.
- The Warm/Cold Reboot Option is a single character, either W or C,
- specifying a Warm or Cold Reboot sequence. The Make Root
- Configuration Read-Only is a single character, either Y of N,
- specifying, if set to Y for Yes, the file attributes for the root
- AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files are set to Read-Only mode. If
- set to N for No, then the file attributes for the root
- AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files remain in the Archive mode.
- See your DOS manual for a complete explanation of file
- attributes. This option is to prevent accidental tampering or
- erasure of the root configuration.
-
- DISK CACHE USERS: If you are using a disk cache program, then
- set the Using Disk Cache Option to Y for Yes. At the Disk Cache
- Filename option, you must include the PATH and Filename for your
- disk cache program. The Flush Buffer Command is just the command
- that will flush your disk cache buffer.
-
- Example: If you are using the Norton's Disk Cache program,
- 'NCACHE.EXE', and this program is located in the 'C:\UTIL\NU6'
- directory and the flush buffer command is '/F' then:
-
- Disk Cache Filename: C:\UTIL\NU6\NCACHE.EXE
- Flush Buffer Command: /F
-
- If you receive any errors when CAM is flushing the disk cache
- buffer, recheck the location and filename of your disk cache as
- to the accuracy of the PATH and filename.
-
- NOTE: IF YOUR DISK CACHE DOES NOT HAVE A FLUSH BUFFER COMMAND,
- IN THE FLUSH BUFFER COMMAND FIELD, TYPE 'NONE' WITHOUT
- THE QUOTATION MARKS.

- F8 - COPY FILES TO ROOT DIRECTORY - Pressing the F8 key will copy
- the configuration files for the configuration description under
- the highlighted bar. These configuration files are copied to the
- root directory and the Copied configuration will be reset to the
- selected configuration description. This indicates that the
- selected configuration will be Active upon reboot of the
- computer. If an alternate selection is made and copied to the
- root directory, then the Copied selection will be reset to the
- alternate selected configuration. If an error is encountered
- during this procedure, See the Configuration Errors During
- Selection section of this manual, Page 9.
-
- F9 - REBOOT COMPUTER - Pressing the F9 key will reboot the
- computer and activate the configuration stored in the root
- directory of your boot drive. This procedure will reboot the
- computer by either a warm or cold boot as it is set in the CAM
- Setup. This function does not change the configuration stored in
- the root directory, it just simply reboots the computer.
-
- F10 - EXIT TO DOS - Pressing the Escape or F10 key will allow you
- to exit to DOS and quit CAM. CAM will compare the root directory
- configuration, AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files, to the active
- configuration listed in CAM for differences in file size, time,
- and date. If any of these are different, then CAM will alert you
- to the problem and allow you to change them if necessary. See
- Configuration Errors During Selection section of this manual,
- Page 9.
-
- ALT-A - EDIT AUTOEXEC.BAT - Holding down the ALT key and pressing
- the 'A' key simultaneously will call your editor and load the
- AUTOEXEC.BAT file of the highlighted configuration. This will
- allow you to make any changes in this file to suit your needs.
- If CAM cannot load your editor, CAM will alert you to the problem
- by giving you an error code and meaning to help you solve the
- problem. The most common problem is File Not Found, meaning that
- CAM could not find your editor by the filename in the path you
- have provided. Recheck your path and filename for possible
- errors or make sure your editor is in the directory you have
- given. When you exit your editor, CAM will update the file date,
- size, and time.
-
- ALT-C - EDIT CONFIG.SYS - Holding down the ALT key and pressing
- the 'C' key simultaneously will call your editor and load the
- CONFIG.SYS file of the highlighted configuration. This will
- allow you to make any changes in this file to suit your needs.
- If CAM cannot load your editor, CAM will alert you to the problem
- by giving you an error code and meaning to help you solve the
- problem. The most common problem is File Not Found, meaning that
- CAM could no find your editor by the filename in the path you
- have provided. Recheck your path and filename for possible
- errors or make sure your editor is in the directory you have
- given. When you exit your editor, CAM will update the file date,
- size, and time.
-
- ENTER - EXECUTE HIGHLIGHTED CONFIGURATION - Pressing the Enter or
- Return key will combine the functions of the F8 (Copy Highlighted
- Configuration) and the F9 (Reboot Computer) keys. After the
- Enter or Return key is pressed, the highlighted configuration
- will be copied to the root directory and the computer will be
-

-
-
- rebooted. This will load the selected configuration into memory.
- The Active and Copied configuration description will be changed
- to reflect the changes in the root directory files you have
- selected.
-
-
- CONFIGURATION ERRORS DURING SELECTION
-
- When you select to change, update, or replace the configuration
- in the root directory. CAM will compare the root directory
- configuration to the Active configuration which it tracks. If
- there is a difference in the file size, time, or date, CAM will
- alert you to the difference and prompt you to update the root
- directory files. This error can be encountered by manually
- changing the configuration files outside of CAM, either the root
- directory files or the CAM configuration files for the active
- selection. CAM will allow you to do one of four things: 1)
- Update the Root Directory files with the ones CAM has designated
- as the Active configuration, 2) Update the CAM designated Active
- files with the root directory files, 3) Add the root directory
- files as a new configuration to the configuration list, or 4)
- Continue with selected action, either copying the selected
- configuration to the root directory or exit to DOS. This is the
- way that CAM checks the files to maintain accuracy of tracking.
- If you are going to use CAM as your configuration manager, then
- CAM must know what you doing with the files and inform you what
- it finds. This allows clarity and maintains the effectiveness of
- CAM.

-
- C O M M A N D L I N E O P T I O N S
-
-
- These options are designed to make the configuration management
- easily accessible from the DOS prompt without having to fully go
- into Config/Autoexec Manager. The following descriptions will
- give you more of an insight to the command line functions.
-
-
- '/<filename>' OPTION - This option will allow you to copy the
- desired configuration to the root directory of your boot drive
- and reboot the computer.
-
- Example: DEFAULT - Name of Selected Configuration
- (first eight letters of DOS filename)
- / - Denotes beginning of filename
-
- DOS Command Line: C> CAM /DEFAULT
-
- CAM will look for the given filename on the command line for a
- valid filename. If found on configuration list, then CAM will
- execute the configuration. If the password option is applied to
- the selected configuration, then the correct password must be
- given in order to execute. This option is extremely powerful by
- allowing quick and easy changing of configurations.
-
-
- '-T<seconds>' OPTION - This command line option is designed to
- delay the start up of CAM for a specified number of seconds,
- where <seconds> is a number defined from 1-99. If <seconds> are
- not specified, i.e. the DOS prompt would be 'C> CAM -T' then CAM
- will default to a 15 second delay. During this delay phase, the
- timer clock is set and the remaining seconds are displayed on the
- screen. During the countdown, you can press the Enter or Return
- key to begin CAM or press the Spacebar key to abort the timer
- function and exit to DOS. After the timer has expired and the
- Enter or Return is not pressed, then CAM will exit to DOS.

- STACKER
-
- If you have Stacker installed on your hard drive and desire to
- use CAM in conjunction with Stacker, then you can configure CAM
- in two ways:
-
- 1) Using the Stacker Drive as Your Boot Drive
- If you have configured your Stacker Drive during its
- installation, then set the Boot Drive Option in CAM
- Setup to the Stacker Drive. Example: Your Stacker Drive
- is Drive E. CAM Boot Drive: E:\.
-
- 2) Not Using the Stacker Drive as Your Boot Drive
- If your boot drive is not designated as the Stacker Drive
- then set the CAM Boot Drive to the boot drive of your
- computer. Example: Your Stacker Drive is Drive E, but
- your Boot Drive is Drive C. CAM Boot Drive: C:\.
-
- Stacker will prompt you to update your configurations on your
- boot drive if Stacker contains a set of configuration files, i.e
- AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS. Stacker's drive swapping utility
- will take care of the swapping of the configuration files, but it
- will ask you if you want to update the files. When choosing to
- do this, keep in mind which drive is your boot drive and where
- CAM has copied the configuration files.
-
-
- DESQVIEW
-
- If you are using Desqview and wish to use CAM in conjunction with
- Desqview, then you must determine the minimal memory usage of
- CAM. Use the Desqview utility programs to determine the minimal
- memory usage. When you use CAM in conjunction with these
- Desqview utility programs, then you MUST execute your editor,
- that is, edit a configuration file for these purposes, so the
- Desqview utility programs can determine the correct amount of
- memory that CAM is actually using. The author has determined
- that the minimal memory usage is 510-512K. Using any other
- amount for the memory block may result in erroneous errors of CAM
- and you may not be able to load your editor during CAM's
- execution. CAM can be swapped to disk if needed. See the
- Desqview manual for complete details concerning its utility
- programs and installing a program for use with the Desqview
- environment.

- SHAREWARE INFORMATION
-
-
- WHAT IS SHAREWARE?
-
- Shareware is copyrighted software that is distributed at minimal
- cost. Because you can "try before you buy," its easy to find
- programs to fit your needs. Shareware authors release programs
- with an element of trust, expecting payment if a program is used
- regularly. You save when you buy Shareware, since expensive
- marketing costs are eliminated.
-
- Shareware is not a kind of software, but rather an alternative
- form of software marketing which is both revolutionary and
- exciting. The shareware method of software marketing allows you
- to receive the latest top quality software from the author. They
- contain fully functioning programs and instructions or manuals
- that you can easily read on-screen or print out.
-
- Shareware is the future of software marketing. As the public
- becomes more aware of the shareware concept, it will be the only
- way people wish to buy software. Wouldn't you rather try out a
- program before investing in it? Marketing products via shareware
- also stimulates better quality, after all, only very good
- shareware products will be supported through registrations, since
- on one would register a poor quality program. Shareware authors
- are also generally more receptive to user's comments and
- suggestions because a shareware author is user-supported through
- direct registrations.
-
- Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Shareware.
