  1. This is a public domain version of the tar program for MsDos.  It was
  2. compiled from the release distributed on comp.sources.unix.  Read

  16. For an MS-DOS version of a 16-bit compress/uncompress utility,
  17. we suggest COMP410E.ARC, available from SIMTEL20's PD:<MSDOS.SQ-USQ>
  18. archive.  This compress is basically compatible with the Unix 16-bit
  19. compress utility, but deals more appropriately with the MS-DOS filename
  20. constraint (8-character name, 3-character type):  The compressed file
  21. created by compress has its filename changed to "filename.tyZ" rather
  22. than the usual Unix convention "filename.typ.Z".
