  26. It is recommended that you use the INSTALL.BAT program to copy  the  files  to 
  27. your hard drive.

  46. Version 2.0 of EASYFILE corrects the following problems with  version  1.9  of 
  47. the program and adds some new features. A summary of the changes follows.

  50.                    ***  Problems Corrected by Version 2.0 ***
  51.  
  52. 1 - Archive  file  "subdirectories"  are now correctly restored on return from
  53.     eXecuting a program.
  54.  
  55. 2 - Changing to a <PARENT> directory no longer requires the presence of a ".." 
  56.     entry in the directory list. This is important to LAN users.  
  57.  
  58. 3 - The UnTagAll feature now correctly updates  the  tag  information  on  the 
  59.     window border.
  60.  
  61. 4 - Application  menus  had a problem with the use of the @ expansion function
  62.     in the default response  specification.  Archived  files  were  not  being 
  63.     unpacked  before  use  if the @ function was used in the default response.  
  64.     This has been corrected. An archived file specified with the @ function is 
  65.     now unpacked properly.  
  66.  
  67. 5 - The pop-up window for specifying a disk drive can  now  correctly  support
  68.     up to 9 drives.

  71.                      ***  NEW FEATURES in VERSION 2.0 ***
  72.  
  73.  1 - Support for Extended and Expanded memory have been added. 
  74.  
  75.      a) EASYFILE can use either Extended memory, Expanded memory, DOS 
  76.         conventional memory or disk files to store file information. The 
  77.         preferred memory use may be specified in the COMMAND LIST file.
  78.  
  79.      b) EASYFILE can use either Extended memory, Expanded memory or a disk 
  80.         file to swap itself out when using MINIMIZE mode.
  81.         
  82.      c) The extended memory manager HIMEM.SYS, available from Microsoft, must
  83.         be used in order to access Extended memory with EASYFILE.
  84.         
  85.      d) An Expanded memory manager must be installed on your system in order
  86.         for EASYFILE to access Expanded memory.
  87.  
  88.  2 - The program EASYMIN.EXE is no longer needed when using the MINIMIZE mode.
  89.      The MINIMIZE mode uses as little as 5K of memory.  EASYFILE will now  use 
  90.      Extended  or  Expanded  memory,  if  available,  to  MINIMIZE  itself  in 
  91.      conventional DOS memory.  
  92.  
  93.  3 - The  application  menu can now be displayed on startup of EASYFILE.  This 
  94.      can be controlled by an option command in the COMMAND LIST file.  
  95.  
  96.  4 - EASYFILE can now be used to display a menu by itself in the center of the 
  97.      screen.  No other part of the EASYFILE screen  is  displayed.  This  will 
  98.      occur  only  if  all  the  EASYFILE features which may be deactivated are 
  99.      turned off.  This allows, if you desire, the use of EASYFILE solely as an 
  100.      application menuing system. 
  101.  
  102.  5 - EASYFILE's  built-in file LISTer can now handle files of any size.  It is 
  103.      no longer restricted to the available memory size.  
  104.  
  105.  6 - A hexadecimal viewing mode was added to EASYFILE's built-in file LISTer.
  106.  
  107.  7 - The  response targets in the pop-up windows have been enlarged for easier 
  108.      access with a mouse.  
  109.  
  110.  8 - A file mask,  at EASYFILE startup time,  can  now  be  specified  in  the 
  111.      COMMAND LIST file.  
  112.  
  113.  9 - The search string used in the built-in file lister is now remembered when
  114.      moving between files.
  115.  
  116. 10 - EASYFILE now requires a minimum of 150K RAM compared to the 187K required
  117.      by version 1.9.
  118.  
  119. 11 - The ability to deactivate EASYFILE features has  been  extended  by  five 
  120.      more items. They are:
  121.  
  122.                         a) Enter file mask
  123.                         b) Print current directory list
  124.                         c) Superdirectory of a disk
  125.                         d) Set system bit on files
  126.                         e) Clear system bit on files
  127.  
  128.      These five commands may now be deactivated using the OFF  option  of  the 
  129.      COMMAND LIST file.  
  130.  
  131. 12 - You may now quit EASYFILE directly from an application menu.
